Easy decision. Michael Cuddyer is the main reason we made a playoff push after Justin Morneau was injured for the season. Hopefully, he can carry this thru into next year. Down the stretch he was absolutely awesome as a hitter and fielder.3565

As you know, my player-evaluation skills are way above average and i was positive on Cuddyer from the start. Many of you lunkheads were negative on Cuddyer's fielding when they had him at 3rd base while I had him rated as a decent fielder. As you know, my instincts were spot-on again. As you know, you conventional wisdom types are generally wrong and i am usually right.

Cuddyer is my all-time favorite Twin, going back to the beginning. It is great to see him have success and it is nice to see him rewarded for that success. I believe he can be the RH hitting compliment to the M & M Boys.

Is it tough to type while patting your self on the back? Get a clue.

Lets not forget the last time Cuddyer got a fat contract he went into the tank for two years. I sure hope he doesnt do this to us again. He had a great Pennant drive this year, after playing painfully mediocre ball for a long time. This makes his performance suspect. Rigth now we have to take him at his word that the best is yet to come. It didnt last time.

This was an easy decision for Smith and the Twins. Cuddyer is a very good player and important part of the Twins sucess. The team might do well to rest Morneau in spots and give Cuddy the occassional staart at 1st. That would help avoid burnout for JUstin in 2010 and keep Cuddy sharp at 1st. Kubel can play rf well enough while Cuddy plays at 1st. Bottom line: Great to have Cuddyer locked up for a couple years!

This Twins follower was definitely a doubter regarding Cuddyer, and those doubts held through much of the season last year as we watched Cuddyer flail away at slow curve balls well out of the strike zone. However, when it really counted with Morneau out and in the Twins' drive on the division title, Cuddyer proved his worth. If he can play consistently well for two seasons, the Twins will have indeed gotten a bargain. He is clearly an important player in the scheme of things. Keeping Cuddyer and acquiring Hardy could make it easier to sign Mauer to an extension.
