Joe Crede's season 'pretty much on line,' Twins manager Ron Gar...

Full story: TwinCities.com

The Twins knew what they were getting when they signed Joe Crede - an oft-injured, hard-slugging, soft-handed third baseman who can put the ball in the seats but for the past two seasons has struggled to stay off the bench.

The headline makes it sound like Crede could follow some other veteran's mid-season exit. That was not what Gardy said at all. Why the negative angle?

all I know is that I love Joe Crede. He comes to play everyday, he is one of the top 3 fielding 3rd baseman in the league, keeps his mouth shut and just plays ball. I like his style and well, hopefully they can sign him for next season when they play outodoors, as playing on grass should help his back issues immensely. He is the best 3rd baseman this team has had since Koskie and I hope they can re sing him...GO TWINS......

All I know is that great players don't want to
sign with the Twins because the system and it's
manager will dump them after destroying their
mentality to play up to their potential ever again.

Stop signing has beens and re-do the whole twins
organization or else we'll be talking about this
free agent mess forever!

Let go of nickname calling Gardy.

Crede has been okay. He is an excellent fielder. At the plate, though, most of his homers have been solo shots. He needs to come through with runners on base. In fact, I would bet that most of the Twins' homers this season have been solo. Gardenhire is right in saying that we haven't really seen Crede get into a hot streak. Gardenhire's handling of Crede's playing time is working. The guy hasn't gone on the DL and is getting the at-bats.

Crede's playing for his own future in baseball is honest, but it would be nice to hear a player say instead that he wants to make the play-offs and stay on the Twins. The guy does play hard, when he plays, and he knows what it is to play in a World Series. It would be fun to see him really get hot and start scaring pitchers, not to mention hit more long ball with runners on base.

Thats what I thought when I saw the headline. I was questioning why they would release him until I read it

It's about time the Twins get on a nice long hot streak. Without one I think they may be doomed.

Dude....they are doomed.

Remember the Yankee series? That's what we'll see
IF they somehow back into the playoffs.

Gardenhire should be fired before even setting foot in the new ball park. How can the Twins reward his performance!

Put Buscher in everyday and see if he's got it or not. You can moan all you want about his fielding, but the scouting report on a young Justin Morneau was once "all hit, no field." Anything can be fixed with practice and quality coaching. The kid hit .290ish last year and then at the last second this off-season they pull the job out from under him for a 1-year .230-hitting band-aid. And barring that, what's wrong with Harris playing everyday. But once again, if Crede's done, I predict that Gardenhire will shirk off making a decision and "let the players figure it out" by platooning them both. I still say Kielty or Mohr could have been an eventual all-star if someone had just pegged one of them the starter back in the day instead of in effect platooning their careers to death. My 2 cents. Mea culpa...

Exactly--his act is old and he is turning into a cliche ridden bitter man--it shows on the field. Need new blood

I like Crede, but I'm not sure if he will be here beyond this year. He hasn't exactly lit things up. Buscher could probably provide as much in the batting department and would stand up to the daily grind a bit better.

You can enjoy today's energy, no matter how frantic the pace of life might seem. Plan to meet a friend for lunch and talk about silly things; there is no need to stay serious all the time, so let loose for a while. Pick the brains of someone older and wiser. If you're the oldest person you know, you'll be surprised at how much wisdom can come from the mouths of babes.
