How does Francoeur help make the Met's more than Church? Church is by far the better well-rounded player of the two.....sounds like man(uel)agement wanted him gone for that 3rd base blunder!

Is Schneider next????

Church is better defensively but Francoeur has (the potential for) a lot more pop. Been a while since he produced numbers from a few seasons ago.
Maybe you'll finally hear why Jerry never liked "the guy".

I always liked Church and was saddened when he suffered thru the two concussions last year - he, in fact, is one of the few Mets currently hitting the ball s0, of course, let's get rid of him! Maybe Francouer will play well in Ny but I doubt it. I never liked him and I am telling you now - Church is gonna kill us with some BIG hits when we play the Braves. Why couldn't they have traded Tatis (but then who would want him???)

ryan church is what he is, a mediocre right fielder with outstanding defense. Right now Francouer is the same thing, except he has a canon of an arm and has won a gold glove. He also (unlike Church) has had a couple of 100 rbi seasons. Not playing well right now but maybe he just needs a change of scenary. Worst case scenario he is the exact same player as ryan church, best case scenario he plays like jeff francouer of 2006.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WILPONS???! OMAR JUST SCREWED UP ANOTHER TRADE. OMAR AND MANUEL JUST GAVE UP THE BEST ARM IN BASEBALL FOR A .250 HITTER. OMAR SAYS THIS IS FOR THE FUTURE, THEN THE FUTURE IS PRETTY DISMAL, WHEN YOU CAN GIVE UP A PLAYER LIKE CHURCH FOR A .250 HITTER. OMAR AND MANUEL MUST GO AND IF THE WILPONS DONT WAKE UP, PLEASE SELL THIS TEAM TO BASEBALL PEOPLE. THIS WAS THE DUMBEST TRADE IN BASEBALL THIS YEAR.

This trade, in my opinion, to addition to my previous post, was not about baseball. I might have accepted this trade if we would have gotten a long ball hitter or a top notch pitcher, both of which we need. The last thing we needed was to trade for another outfielder. This trade was personal and Manuel's dislike for Church. My question still remains....Where are the WILPONS????

. You make Church sound like he's Roberto Clemente, he was hitting .150 with risp, hitting about the same against left handers, and had a whopping 2 hrs with 22 rbi's. Francouer has had 2 100 rbi seasons with 29 hrs and he is 25 yrs old. also a great arm and gold glover

Perhaps Church was still in Manuel's doghouse for missing 3rd base months ago.

Yeah, Tatis would have been a better more equal trade for Francoeur than Church.

Dumbest trade this year was when Pittsburgh traded All-Star center fielder Nate McLouth for three minor leaguers. Atlanta stole this trade!

Yeah maybe Church was hitting .280 with 2HR, 22RBI's, 26Runs, and 6SB's but that's better than four-fifths of the current Met's starters!

While Francouer is hitting .250 with 5HR, 35RBI's, 32Runs, and 5SB's.

Francouer has a giant hole in his swing, and is an easy out. This is a 1 for 1 swap of mediocre players. Nothing earth shattering either way.

The people lamenting Ryan Church being traded must have been watching a different player than the one I have been.
It would be good to get some HR and RBI production from a rightffielder but that just is not Church's game. He is built to be a decent doubles hitter but does not get that done either. What am I missing?

And the usual racist crap that surfaces on Mets posts is difficult to comprehend at all times but especially when they trade Church for Francouer and we still get the fools post.
BTW - first time that the core latino players (that some of you bitch so much about) are out on injured reserved and this team can't get past first base. Yeahh, we need MORE Ryan Church....please.
