Mets' Manuel, Minaya will get pass thanks to injuries

In any other year, with baseball's second-highest payroll, the Mets would be in serious shake-up mode if they were in fourth place and three games under .500, which was the situation as they headed into last night'sseries finale with the Dodgers.

Manuel shouldnt be blamed for this mess he has no players on this team even though he has made plenty of mistakes the blame should fall squarely on minaya woh didnt prepare his team for this season praying tatis/murphy could provide enough offense, signing castillo for 4 years which stopped us from getting hudson ( who is killing us with the dodgers) and numerous other deals or non deals. He finally has to be fired. this is ny go out and get us players. please!!!!!!!!

I'd take Bobby V. He's not the best manager, but he brings attitude and is infinitely smarter than Manuel.

Let's get Billy Beane in her as the new GM. He's done good things with limited budgets. Imagine what you could do with a lot of money.

Really, both Minaya and Manuel need to go...They were no better than a .500 team even before all these injuries.

What do you expect, he probably was rooting for his childhood team the dodgers the last few days. If any organization had this many white managers/coaches, it would be under pressure by MLB and any other officious special interest group.

The Mets need to stop making politically correct decisions and make correct decisions.

This is a fundamental problem with the Mets -- not enough respect for its own tradition. 1969, 1986, even 1973 and 2000 all METS Championships. The Dodgers won once, in 1955, then moved to LA and won in 1963,'81, etc. So why do the Mets have the Jackie Robinson Rotunda?? Yes, he did great things for baseball and for society, but HE WAS NOT EVER A MET!!! This is genuflecting before the Brooklyn born white male fan over aged 65. This is why the mets remain a second class organization. It stems from Fred Coupon to Omar Minaya and down through the entire operation... What an embarassment to me as a Met fans

You would think after just missing the WS in 2006 due to inept or non-existent moves at the deadline plus not one but TWO September collapses there would be no more passes for Minaya. This team will not win with him as GM. With that new three year deal, looks like we can guarantee no contention in 2015 or so.

Are ypu commenting on their racil makeup or their abilities as coaches/managers? Do you know for a fact theat better,whiter, coaches were passed over?

If we stay with Manuel after the All Star break this team is doomed.I understand very well about the injuries BUT if you look at our loses most of them would have happened even with most of our guys back,high scores,weak pitching,and even when we go out in front by three or four runs the other team comes from behind to beats us,Manuel has not put the fire in their hearts to win,he has not been tough enough or strong enough to handle this team.The Wilpons better wake up NOW or this season is finished,injuries or NO injuries.

Minaya I know is going to get a pass because the Coupons love him for some reason.On the other hand, Manuel has to be held responsible for the pathetic display of baserunning, fundamentals& defense. Absolutely awful. The late 70's Met teams were better in these 3 areas.

I think the Wilpons made a huge mistake in giving Minaya an extension that kicks in next year. They should have told him to "show us what you can do this year and then we'll see about the extension. Omar knows he's back, thus he has no motivation for improving the team, especially with these Chardonnay-sipping owners who probably spend more time in France in the summer than in Citi Field - where they belong.
