Suddenly the man with no position, the guy only fit for a DH in the AL, is more versatile than almost any other Cub position player? To date Fox has proven some of his critics from within the organization wrong since being called up from Iowa. If the guy can truly catch, he becomes even more valuable. I doubt we will see him except in an emergency tho as K Hill is a switch-hitter. Then one has to wonder if he will be "saved" every game just in case KH goes down. Often the non-playing catcher is the very last person off the bench. That would be a shame in the case of jake Fox as the man can hit.

Maybe refusing to pay Henry Blanco wasn't such a smart move after all, even though he is injured now in San Diego. Maybe they could have signed Pudge Rodriguez before he signed with the Florida Marlins and spanked the Cubs in the playoffs. Or they could have signed Pudge Rodriguez before he signed with Detroit. Or they could have signed Pudge Rodriguez before he signed with Houston this spring during the World Classic where Geo was smoking his funky cigarettes. Let's get more left handed hitting in the lineup too. Sign Bradley and Fukodome to 20 year contracts. And Fonzie Soriano, oy vey. Now if they had signed the Braves relief pitcher Soriano, I would have considered that a happy day.

Do they really expect the backup catcher to play 4 games in 3 days?

Prime example why the Cubs flounder, and why Pinella continues to prove himself as a sorry manager. It's well known that catcher is Fox's primary position, but just as was done when ARam was out, Pinella refuses to get Fox's bat into the lineup, because of some b.s. conclusion of his, that Fox would be a liability on defense.

How much has Hill been catching of late? Since he's a 2nd stringer, obviously not that much. In fact, did a ball not shoot right between his legs in the 9th inning on Wed.? So it went as a WP, Hill still didn't block it. And there's absolutely no comparison in the 2 guys on offense, and considering the Cubs offense is downright pathetic, you'd think Pinella would worship this opportunity to get Fox's bat into the lineup without having to sit his overpaid prima donna's. Not vodka Lou, he'd rather moan and groan about how the team doesn't hit, and he's a major contributer of it, because he doesn't know a thing about baseball unless it's by the book. What a jerk !!!!!

So Hill is going to catch both games of the double header? When was last time a catcher did that?

I expect a call up from the minors. Hill will be so sore by the end of Sunday. He better make reservations at a local spa. Nice timing for Soto to take a back seat. Guys like Bench, Fisk, Carter, Boone, Munson all played through pain. Soto will be on the same page it seems with players like Jerome Walton and Mark Prior. A flash in the pan.

Yeah this is pretty much stupid. Simply because it will bury Fox on the bench for the series, which means we will all be forced to see Soriano every day go 0-4 with 3 k's and then complain about everything not being his fault and at .211 or whatever ti will be by then, how he is playing hard and earning his pay. Jesus jump back chreest bring up a back up catcher so fox isn't buried all weekend. This management is so dumb it's comical. The cubs are the laughing stock of the professional organizations in any sport. The Cubs' best hitter arguably right now is Jake Fox...and he will see probably zero at bats. I hate Hendry and I hate Lou.

NOW WHY WOULD THE CUBS need to play a man short for the weekend series versus the CARDS, if they just realized what is going to happen eventually, that GEO SOTO is going to be placed on the DL for a stint???

PICK UP THE PHONE and dial 11 digits to DES MOINES and get that little SPARKPLUG SAM FULD back here, where he belongs.

GEEZ LAPEETZ, if PINIELLA and HENDRY are not the DOPIEST management teams in MLB, then they certainly are NEXT IN LINE !!!

And as far as JAKE FOX goes, he should be in the lineup EACH AND EVERY DAY !!! Yeah, I know; he made a BOOT the other day in LF, but that was only his 2nd game out there. How long has SORRIANOSON been booting balls while in his role as a LF ???

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
