Marlins are in the hunt, but nobody seems to care

This isn't Boston. This isn't New York. There still should be a buzz. There should be a jolt of excitement after four Marlins pitchers combined Tuesday for a one-hitter against Atlanta, just as there should be ... Full Story

The heat only effects the Sunday games. The night games are fine. Can't wait for the new stadium. I live on the space Coast and will gladly drive the extra 20 min (We alreay clocked it) to enjoy the new digs. So all of you who already live in south florida quit whinning it takes us 2 1/2 to get to Dolphins stadium... What is up with the law suit? What's up with Hanley Josh and Uggla. They are about a combines 3 for their last 50. How are we winning?

All we hear about is what a lousy baseball stadium it is and then they wonder why we don't show up. Baseball is dead in South Fla. because all three of the ownership groups killed it. Either sell it to someone who can afford to build a stadium or move to a city that will build one for you. Good luck with that. Who cares anymore?

You seriously have the baseball IQ of a pack of gum. Seriously...
Wow, that must be one smart pack of gum. Maybe it is a Wrigley's?
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
Willis - you're blaming it on the mound?
No, the MEDIA reports, and Willis himself blamed it on the mound. Learn to read, and it will give you TONS of new information.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
I love Willis as much as the next guy, but were you paying attention all of last season? His ERA WAS OVER 5 ASSHOLE.
I am glad to hear you admit you love Willis as much as you love the next guy. His ERA was over 5 for ONE SEASON, so he got traded for a loser whose ERA was over 5 for his CAREER. He was a ROY, a Cy Young contender, and a fan favorite. Insulting me doesn't change those facts, hater.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
Cabrera - He's hitting .289... Ripping? Maybe lately... he's been hovering in the 260's most of the season. Cantu is hitting .287 with a LOT less protection around him.
Yeesh. I wasn't comparing him to Cantu, but to Jacobs. You have reading comprehension problems.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
Go eat **** and die.
Eat asterisks and die? My death will mean a family will miss me. Your death will be greeted with joy and dancing in the streets.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
You're just another hater that can't get past anything. You're the scum that will deteriorate the fanbase that this team IS trying to build.
What? This is your first time here. I have been here all year. I AM the fanbase they are trying to build, but then lose when they have three firesales in less than ten years. YOU are a brownnoser that will accept anything that Loria does, and then attacks anyone who suggests they KEEP some of their stars.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
You miss Cabrera? He obviously didn't give a flying **** about being here.
You are truly delusional. He was even the center of an article that talked about how he MISSED being here, and how much fun he had, and how he missed the Amazega Dance after his home runs. So, yes, he gave a flying asterisk about being here, but Loria didn't want to pay him for his services. Don't blame Cabrera for a Loria trade.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
After all, he was 100lbs overweight. You miss that...?
100 pounds? You wanted a 140 pound third baseman? Why not put a high school kid at third, and don't expect any home runs from that twig.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
Personally, I'd rather have a bunch of guys having fun and playing their hearts out (in this matter) than a bunch of snobby millionaires.
So now Cabrera and Willis, two fan favorites are snobby millionaires? You really turn on former players, huh? Did you boo Jeff Conine when he threw out the first pitch, because he no longer plays for the Marlins? That mentality of yours is pathetic.
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
Look at the Rays... same team as us... and in a magical run. It's done wonders for their city.
Same team? They have more than TWICE the salary, a current stadium, and ANOTHER stadium on the way, and NO history of the owner dumping ENTIRE TEAMS after a winning season. And since this is the first time the Rays have SMELLED success, the fans are joyous like they were when the Bucs had their run and the Lightning did on their run, but check how those teams did BEFORE they were winning, it's a pretty sad sight...
He Who Hates Hyde wrote:
I for one will say this. If the Marlins are lucky enough to win the World Series and I see or find out that anyone that has bashed this team is out partying in the streets, I will run them over with my truck TWICE.
Nice, now we have a terrorist willing to ram a crowd during a championship parade, just to get someone that might have dared to criticize trading two stars for four minor leaguers. I sure hope the FBI tracks you down, hater...

Mr. Hyde,

I'm sure you're a nice enough guy, so I feel a little bad for you. I really hope you find something that you're good at someday.

It's "the glass is half-empty" people like yourself that wear away at the enthusiasm the rest of us feel for our teams.

PS.....And as bad as you say Cleveland Sports are they still sell out all their home games!!! Why? Cause it's called being a Fan!
It's pretty sad that a team that has won 2 world series championships in the past 10 years can't get more then 5000 to show up for a game!
You are ALOS the same Gator fan jerk that joked about the death of a football player just because he didn't play for your team. Your IP is showing as Cleveland, so your short bus comment is baseless. In fact, due to your history of trolling, ALL your commets are baseless. Get lost, troll.

He Who Hates hyde, Love your passion!! You're right about Cabrera--I had been a Tigers nut since 1956 until 1993 Marlins made themselves my favorite--still watch the Tigers on the package and cantu has gotten FAR MORE clutch hits, almost as many home runs AND will go out on the limb and say he might be costing shade less than Miggy. I love Dontrelle as well, but Trader Hackman--now residing up in Elon, NC--DESTOYED Willis in those early years with horrific pitch counts and basically burnt him out, reducing his velocity and making him mess with that funky delivery to get it back--AIN'T happening. Should try him as a DH maybe, another Ankiel.
Yeah, he might be right about comparing to Cantu, but the comparison was with Jacobs. Lou, who would you rather have at first, Cabrera or Jacobs? And who would you rather have pitching, Willis or Miller? And would ANY other team in the league have made that trade if they were not rebuilding? The Marlins were not rebuilding the way the Dolphins are, so there was only MONEY and Loria greed behind that trade. Trade Jacobs and Hermida for Maybin and Miller, maybe, but not a Top 5 hitter and a fan favorite and the two last links to the 2003 title without getting something major league ready in return....

Willis had a bad year last year, but even then hustled to the end. His 10-15 record was the same as Olsen, yet they kept Olsen becuase of the money difference only. Recall when he hurt his hand running to make a tag at first? I was at that game, and the fans gave him a standing ovation when he returned to the mound. Yes, we lost that game, but loyalty was EARNED there. Fans were lost in that trade, and they will be won back by Volstad and Nolasco, not by Miller and Badenhop.

You're all a bunch of wusses. I am a Dolphin season ticket holder and I sweat every game. Deal with it. The Marlins get low attendance cos once they get a good following-they break up the team. Also, why buikde "them" a staium when no one goes to the games. How about a domed Stadium for the Dolphins? Ya know, supply and demand.
We have too many transplants down here to get support for the Marlins. I think they are doing great and I want them to go all the way.
you have 8 chances every season to see the dolphins play at home. you have 81 chances to see the marlins play at home. what was that about supply and demand?

Real newspapers in real towns have columnists that write about the current hot topics in sports - locally and nationally. Hyde writes about the Marlins as much as he also writes about other topics of interest - Jason Taylor, Brett Favre, Tiger Woods, NBA Drat, etc. I guarantee you that these other towns have columnists that write about more than just their local baseball team. It's the job of a beat reporter to report daily on the team - not the columnist. Yes, I used to work for a newspaper.

I was a full season ticket holder from 1993-1998 and a partial season ticket holder from 1999-2000. I love baseball and still watch most games on tv. But the CONSTANT whining about needing a stadium financed by public funds for billionaire owners and millionaire players has just turned me right off going to a game. I haven't been to a game since 2002, and that is the reason why.
