There goes City Government screwing with one of the last nice areas of the city.
I seems only yesterday they were begging people to come back to the city to live. Now after investing millions of dollars, those same people are going to be driven out by young thugs. Makes sense to me!

Federal Hill residents have Digital Harbor, previously a violent school(Southern). These charter type schools are better and a lot of the kids want to learn. There are a lot less problems since the school has changed over and the same thing will happen in Canton.

I live in an up and coming neighborhood in Pigtown and understand both sides of the argument, but ultimately if the city wants to put a school in Canton because it's the best option in terms of urban planning, I think they should do it. It might bring property value down initially, but instead of the residents complaining I think they should work to make sure the school is the best in Baltimore. The residents in that section of the city have the means and opportunity to make the new school an example to the rest of the city schools. I hope they take the opportunity and make it work for them and for Baltimore. The glass is half full, not half empty.

You've got to be kidding.I just love how they can do this without the knowledge of the neighborhood residents.Well there goes the neighborhood as a whole.Canton Middle School student thugs have already ruined the area from disrespecting the residents,to destoying property, stealing from the children that live in the neighborhood. The elderly don't come out of the houses from 7:30-9:00am and again from 2:20 until 3:30pm because these thugs are ruid and violent.School police don't do a thing and believe me there has been one complaint after another. We call 911 and yeah they come about 1 hour later.Put the lowlife thugs in their own neighborhood Schools. We have children of our own that we refuse to send to our own School because the School System has allowed once again to send these thugs that don't want a education to good Schools and not only ruin our Schools, but our neighborhood as well. The Government sucks in our City.Stop taking away from the children who will make a huge differents in this world. All you worry about are the kids that are raised from ignorance and don't care to change it. Meanwhile our children are afraid to go to School for a education that they want.Maybe if you free your mind your a** will follow and then you will do the right thing. That is ofcourse to put the thugs in their own neighborhood Schools.

WTF!!!Do you not understand what is going on here. They are not children misbehaving, they are thugs that think they rule the world.Edu cation to them is who can be the most ignorant to others. If your so for a great school fight to have it put in your area. Then give it a few weeks and see how fast you become angry.Did you read the post were the lady said the elderly are afraid.AFRAID I SAY.Unless you live with it on a daily basis,we don't know what it's like.I agree with Tonya put them in their own neighborhood were they live and breed on ignorance. The teachers have to deal with this type of behavior and can't even get a raise. The school system should be ashamed of themself.Instead they blame everyone else for their failure. It is them and the parents fault b/c they allow the school to raise their kids and not become involved with their education and the system keeps allowing it to continue.I feel sorry for the teachers and the kids that want a education.Let me know when you want to fight for that great school in your neighborhood and I'll cheer you on.

If the only reason you want a school in canton is convenience you may want to rethink. Once your children graduate your left with a thug run school. Opponents to the school, bring with you to the meeting all the documented cases of violence at city schools including the bus beating, photographer attack, teacher attacks etc... humm convenience??

Their going to put the thugs from Patterson in the school in canton they just haven't told you yet. That is how the school system works. So don't get to happy about the few block walk.I hope your kids can run fast because they will be chased just because their normal kids. You think I'm joking. My daughter goes to HSH and she stays at school until 4:00 so she can walk home with her friends(NOT HAVE TO RUN FROM THUGS)GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA.I'LL PRAY FOR YOUR KIDS safety

My neighborhood school is around the corner from me George Washington Elementary School (a public school). While the school is not in the greatest neighborhood it is a state Blue Ribbon School (the highest honor a state gives a school). Heaven forbid that Canton have to deal with a "real" issue. Work together with your council person, local organizations, the school district, mayor, police, and the kids to make a change in the school. You have a huge well educated tax base in that area, use it to make a positive change.

Just a note to say,if you put plants in your flower beds wait until Canton Middle gets out for summer break.Thats the only time of year these little scumbags give their grandmother, aunts flowers.Right from your house to theirs.I'am not a YUPPIE.I live in Brewers Hill not Canton and I have children with morals, respect and values. This issue is not about YUPPIES.It's about respect for our neighborhood and those who payed decent money to live it.This problem has been on going for years with this School.Guess what the YUPPIES weren't even around when this became a problem. So lets not put blame on peoples opinions. The issue is the school not the YUPPIES.I don't care about them, just because they think their better then anyone else. They are not the problem in this surrounding area. That is until 2:00am lmao

Typical Baltimore.

Piss on the people who actually pay taxes and care about their neighborhood.

As each day passes by, I'm glad I moved out of the city.

I was wondering if I could buy you a capital, period, comma and your spelling is like a first grader. This School is not for the children of Canton. It is for the west side thugs and the Illegal Immigrants children that are taking over your neighborhood in Canton and surrounding areas.Dim wit

While the School is not in the greatest neighborhhood. You see theres the differents our neighborhood is a great place once School lets out for the summer. The kids that go to a Blue Ribbon School come and go in an orderly mammer. They also don't refuse to learn while they are in School. They do not disrespect others or their property. This is a real issue for us.We do work together and look out for each other as well. Our local Council and local organization are on our side.As far as the Mayor, she could care less.Have you seen her on the news addressing the issue's of School violence and MTA attacks?Know I don't think you have. She only cares about the all mighty $$$.O.K. now the matter of the police. We have called 911 several times.More them I can remember on the issue of the punks fron Canton School. If they come at all and when they do it's your word against theirs or it's a hour or two later. So please give me a break when you talk about positive change in our neighborhood.Positive change would be to put the School elsewhere.

I don't see the city not putting a school in that neighborhood as an option. People in Canton can cogitate this all they want, there are schools in every neighborhood, they are not special from that standpoint. The public schools in the Georgetown section of DC are examplary, same with the schools in Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia. The residence of those communities wouldn't let "their" schools be bad.
Canton needs to stop being so apathetic and role up their sleeves and ensure the school is one of the best in Baltimore. Do whatever it takes (within reason). If Mayor Dixon only cares about $$$(and that's all most mayor's care about IMO) Canton is in a good position to make her see things in a different light (with the huge tax base their)! Again, I can't see Canton not having a school, but I can see the new school changing into an elite public school.

Hampstead Hill Acadamy is a great Charter School, but please correct me if I'am wrong.Last year didn't Hampstead have problems with the sudents from Canton Middle School.I know this for a fact. Here is my problem all the eight graders from Hampstead will be attending Canton, all though the name will change they will still have the same students. The very same students that destroy people's property and are rude and violent to people they come in contact with.So please tell me what the differents is other then Patterson being more them a few blocks away.

We already have the School in the neighborhood. That is the problem. Most if the residents work,so why should it be our problem to make a great School. If the socalled parents of these students were to take part in their kids education, this would not be a problem. The problem is they think the teachers are held responsiable for their kids full education.I have never seen not one single parent come or go from this School.Yes I live across the street from it.It is not like we never had a school in our neighborhood. It's been here for years. It was a good school until they started bussing kids from other schools that had bad attendence or the school became violentso they closed then down. That is when it became an issue. Our kids were pushed,no pulled out of our neighborhood school, yes by us because they were put in danger. These kids took over the school the teachers and the neighborhood.Where were the Mayor, police, councilmen at that time.No where to be found.Yes we spoke but were not listened to.
