So what you're saying is our offense will go into Dallas and put up 21 points. Yeah right!!!
I think you misread or I misspoke...The Cowboy offense stinks is what I am saying, or at least against us they did.

I agree that the refs were bad...but they were bad both ways. The final Ravens field goal drive was aided by a blatant hold by Adam Terry against James Harrison. Bottom line - the beleagured Steelers offense drove 92 yards in the final minutes against tha vaunted Ravens defense. If Baltimore can't protect a three point lead with three minutes to go and the opponent backed up to their own eight yard line, then they don't deserve to win.
The hold on Harrison was blatant, no doubt about it. Terry almost had him in a choke hold for what seemed like several seconds. When I saw the replay, I screamed: That's holding; no doubt about it.

But the bad call on the non-first down, and the non-touchdown eclipsed the non-call on the holding. But as others have already said...that's NOT why we lost. We lost because of piss poor play calling by Cameron; poor execution by Flacco; the decision to even have McGahee suit up; and poor play calling by Rex Ryan in the final 3 minutes. And...by good play by the Steelers when it was all on the line.

Steelers didn't beat the ravens. The officiating did. Somebody should penalize these refs somehow, for totally changing the playoff picture with bad calls. I thought the replay timeout rule was supposed to make them more accurate, not less. Ponderous.
From the NFL rulebook it appears that there are two ways to score a touchdown, per Rule 11, Section 2, Article 1:

It is a touchdown (3-38):
(a) when a runner advances from the field of play and the ball touches the opponents’ goal line (plane); or
(b) while inbounds any player catches or recovers a loose ball (3-2-3) on or behind the opponents’ goal line.

In 1(b) it appears that “on or behind the opponents’ goal line” may refer to the player, and not the ball. Therefore, any inbounds player who is on or behind the opponents’ goal line, and who comes into full possession of the ball will be ruled to have scored a touchdown.

Here, now take your loss like men and quit whining!

Well said. I'm thankful the ref saw it my way, but I feel confident the outcome wouldn't have been different. Either Big Ben sneaks for the 3 inches, or we go to OT. Everyone in the stadium could tell you who was able to move the ball in the 4th quarter.
The big question for Steeler fans: Who do we root for next week, Ravens vs. Cowboys?
Cowboys . Ravens are a tough team , rather not see them again this year . 2 close games could have gone either way ......

Do yourself a favoer, and DO NOT make a wager on that rule. It was a touchdown, but NOT for the reason that you say it is. The ball DOES NEED to break the plane.... ALWAYS. On a pass, or a run. The instant that the BALL CROSSES THE IMAGINARY PLANE, it is a touchdown. If you see the replay, the ball WAS across the plane by about two inches. AFTER HE MADE THE CATCH, he was tackled at the one foot-line. It was a touchdown because the ball crossed the plane, NOT BECAUSE of what you are saying about having two feet in the endzone.
Where it gets tricky is whether, from the angles on the replays, it was CONCLUSIVE enough to overturn the ruling on the field. I, and just about every other commentator who has given an opinion so far, disagree on whether or not it was conclusive enough to overturn the ruling on the field.

Ravens lost. Hard to say, but dem stillers appear to be a touch better...

But, it is a 100% disgrace to see fans on here from lutherville, parkville or any other Bmore area that are stiller fans!!! You should all be embarassed for being bandwagon fans that root against your own city. You are all a disgrace and should be embarassed for each other. If you love Pitt so much, move there, but dont bash the team and the city you live in...... DISGRACE

A ball caught over the sidelines or endline has already crossed the scoring line. The ball in question never crossed the line.Conclusively. Bad call but hell Pitt always gets the calls as NFL loves to promote their brand. See Seattle Super Bowl and 3 critical calls , all going to Steelers. We lost today because of Cory Ivy mismatch with Hines Ward. Ward is now a slowing slot guy and Ivy is maybe a dime back but no nickle.Too short, too slow. Checkmate.

"You have to have two feet down to complete the catch.[Holmes] had two feet down and completed the catch with control of the ball breaking the plane of the goal line.

" ... When he gained control of the ball, the ball was breaking the plane and then he fell into the field of play. But to have a touchdown, all you have to have is a catch, which is the two feet down, possession and control of the ball breaking the plane."

HMM....Now, I was at the game and the angle where I was, it was tough to tell. I just got a chance to see a replay on NFL Net, and admittedly, it was very close. But, you could see as Holmes is falling the ball was on the plane and his feet had already touched. Tough call to make, but it was correct. Now...for Ravens fans who are complaining, all they had to do was stop Ben from making throw and cover Holmes. They did not.

I don't know where they find these refs. It's just hard to believe that every wrong call goes against the Ravens. It's hard enough to beat the opponent, without the blind idiot refs stacked against us. Cheaters, all of them.
What game were you watching? The Ravens got all of the calls but that one TD call! There were so many others that weren't called and even the announcers were wondering why? Let alone those calls would be against the Ravens, yet no calls for holding?

The Ravens should have been able to close out the game and they couldn't quit blaming the refs.

Bad thing that the over-riding rule to ONLY reverse calls when the evidence is visually conclusive is abused week after week in the NFL.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Leo

Why are you still fighting, Leo? Everyone else went home a long time ago, but you're still here pounding your fists on the table. Although you don't want to admit it, accepting defeat may be your most practical option at this point. Sometimes it's just easier to move on than to keep up the fight. When you're forced to restructure, at least you have a chance to redefine. YouÕl get the opportunity to start with a clean slate, so use it to your advantage.
