Full story: Baltimore Sun

The Marine Corps is taking on the role of fashion police. This year, the Marine Corps commandant updated the regulations on what Marines can and cannot wear, on duty and off, in the United States.

That really is for the best....the digital cammies they wear is their daily "working uniform", as opposed to the dress blues. The Navy works the same way...no working uniform can be worn outside the base except to do certain things like pick up your kids at school, get fuel for your vehicle, or go to the Navy credit union. You can't walk into a grocery store or a mall, for example, in your cammies. Dress blues on certain occasions, but not the cammies. That's just the way it is folks!

I think if they can't wear their cammies they should have something they can wear to show they are in the Corps.

I can agree with that but you want it to be something that will represent the Corps well, nothing shabby looking.

They must have been taught from the same person who taught you how to spell.

Hocky- NOT A WORD
Hockey- maybe this is what you meant

There- as in a place. Maybe you meant to say they're- as in they are.

To- a destination
too- as in excessively

dumn-NOT EVEN A WORD
DUMB- as in what you are.

Marines dont have to have the since of pride by wearing their cammies, and anyone who see's a Marine out in town can already spot them out from the rest of the crowd.By the way they walk, talk, and their haircuts. This rule was set back in July if I remember right and my husband has had no problem with it. If they want to go out in town in uniform they wear their charlies.

What a bunch of cry-baby sissy-sticks. Who would want to wear cammies off-post unless you were on a work detail anyway? When I was in, You couldn't even wear jeans on "liberty"! Suck it up and move on Marines. You wanna be in the Air Force instead?

As I recall back in 1989 at Camp Pendleton my ex was based there as an E-5 , and he did not wear anything regarding cammies , nor did he speak about anything that went on at work at home... I never asked him questions about how work was because thats the ways it is... He served in Operation Desert Storm and had enlisted right out of high school until his honorable discharge in 91... Semper Fi... and we did live off base in Oceanside, CA...

And the cammies thing, look this is what sets apart form the nasty ass army we dont need to show off they try to but everyone thinks they look like a bunch of jack asses

Yup...you're right on the money here "grunt". I am ashamed that I was 1 of 100 in the entire Marine Corps to learn electronics. I am ashamed with the fact that in an MOS with so few Marines, most enlisted men with my background came to be E-9s. I am ashamed that I was able to get out of the Marine Corps, leverage what I learned in electronics, obtain my degree in Electrical Engineering, and put my family in a great financial place. I should have "grown a pair", learned how to be a real Marine, so that those skills could have been used to enable my future for myself and my family. I can't remember how many times I have been walking through the park and have needed the ability to throw hand grenades at the enemy pigeons who have infiltrated our borders. Or that one time, when I needed to repel into a conference room to deliver a set of Engineering documents. Nope...not for me. Instead, I sit in my cubicle, in my 10th floor office, and curse the lack of motivation, dedication, and integrity I never had. To you, sir, I tip my hat.
...
Oh wait...instead of throwing $hit at each other, how about we recognize the sacrifices we each had to make, regardless of what branch of service we were involved? We could just give thanks to each other and those who are currently bleeding and dying. I know that I have done my part, my service has ran its course. But there are still others who are serving for me...and for
that, I give my love and thanks to them. Regardless whether it's pushing paper, kicking boxes, or pounding dirt.

I was in Motor T... was doing all training with 3rd Marines. Went to desert warfare training, mountain warfare training, on ship, trained with the same weapons as the grunts, went on forced marches with the grunts but STILl had to get my other job done so the big green trucks that brought in all the water, beans, bullets and bandaids to keep the grunts moving would run.... and we rolled into Kuwaitt with the back of the truck full of grunts... guess the motor T guys driving the trucks tecnically got into the war before the grunts sitting behind them... I love my grunt brothers and the guys who supported all of us..... Screw you wanna be GRUNT, your probably a reservist anyway.

I was stationed at Camp Pendelton WAY back in 1980-81 (1st Mar at Horno) and even at that time they had the no cammies off base rule not only at Pendelton but at every Marine Corps base in the U.S.

If I am not mistaken they taught us that rule in boot camp at Parris Island.

Had this rule changed or something?
