I don't know about where your nuts came from, but I had a big, hard nut almost hit me on the head today. LOL.
The park we're camping in is overrun with squirrels and I was sitting at the picnic table when this thing came crashing down from above and bounced off the table, not three feet from my head. I looked up and there was this squirrel looking down at where he had dropped the nut.
Maybe the squirrel thinks you are nuts !

No need to agree. Just make a case for your claim bears would do great in D.C.
You can make a rational argument to back up your claim, right?
Ummm, Yep.
But not now. Gotta go find some armadillos.

I don't want you to call Paul.
Your the one that wants MD to consider relocating bears.

I'm surprised you weren't charged by anyone on here for baiting 'em MB :)

It'll be interesting to see if we have 22 fewer hunters applying for permits next year....and the year after that...and that.

What state were you in? Is it illegal for squirrels to bait humans?

It wouldn't surprise me. It's quite difficult to "bear proof" the inside of your home. This particular bear is fond of peanut butter and dog food.

I'm prepared for the next time it happens.

On my recent trip to Arkansas I met a woman who told me of a friend of hers that is well...rather "Disneyfied" as one might call it. She had questioned why it's illegal to feed bears in the National Parks. She really believed it was because the bears would stop eating the food the rangers put out for them. She thought bears were nice, gentle creatures that only ate trees. True story!

You okay with the Md bear hunt?
Raptor in Michigan wrote:

I'm wondering why they only allow bear hunting in the two western most counties. Might they have a dangerously low population of bears in the other counties?
<quoted text>
Deflected- no. I was asked a question. In order to give an informed answer, I need to have more information.
If the bear population is dangerously low in the other Maryland counties, would relocation be a better option to sustain a healthy bear population within the entire state...with a future goal of being able to hunt them in ALL counties?
SO, are you asking or advocating for bear relocation?

You stated you'd make a case for having bears in D.C...... I'm listening.

While relocation IS better than death, IMO, I don't advocate kidnapping animals and moving them to strange, unfamiliar territories.

We're talking about bears. You stated they'd do well in D.C. Explain how bears would do well there.

You can back up your claims can't you?

When did DC come into the converstaion? I said they may be needed in other counties where there is a shortage.

Please explain the available food sources for bears in the counties surrounding D.C.
Don't know, but then I've never been to D.C. I have been to the Rockies Mountains though- a number of tmes- and even when food in the mountains is scarce, they always manage to fid it in other places. Bears are adaptable. I'm sure they would do just fine in D.C.

Sorry, maybe I should have said "I'm sure they would do just fine in the counties SURROUNDING D.C." in response because THAT was your question.

I would never support putting bears in any big city because people are mean, ignorant and careless... and bears would get hurt.
