What are you talking about. You obviously never learned enough about God to make a rational decision.
Nice judgement!!! As if you know the parameters for believing in a god.

Rational decision making and the supernatural don't usually mix well.

Prove it.

I believe Jesus.
And how can you know when jebus is working through others? I guess you'll just cherry pick some more.

Instead of blindly believing; Try keeping an open mind.

It seems you learned Bullshit. What was you problem with The Lord's Prayer? Do you even know it and what parents are killing their kids at night? You made no sense in your post.
Learning to think for yourself is BS, but believing jebus is rational???

I guess I didn't understand her dumb statements about kids being killed at night. Did you understand her? Maybe her idea of Christianity is different from mine.

I didn't say that. Thinking for yourself is most important. It was her strange rant that was irrational.

She said;

"You christians should try that approach instead of making them beg god not to kill them in their sleep when they go to bed. Lord's prayer, my ass. Talk about child abuse!"

This is what I don't get. The Lord's prayer is a beautiful prayer.

I never said God acted through G's mistress. That was all G's doing. He didn't say that either. It seems his life had hit bottom through his own doing and sometimes unconsciously you realize that you have made such a mess that only God can help. Something helped him change his ways.
I suggested it since jonnycakes refers to that as one of the most important moments in his life. Perhaps god was working thru his mistress since the end result, according to jonny, was god coming to his rescue. Can you consider the possibility or will you remain closed minded and irrational?

I don't believe blindly. I have an open mind. Convince me that there is no God. You can start with evolution and the reasons why humans are far different than all other animals on all levels.

You think you know.

Nothing wring with that.... but to say you know god works thru people (or about the supernatural) would be irrational.

I think you are the one with the closed mind. You believe that there is no God=closed mind.
I believe that there is a possibiliy that there is a God=open mind.

I am talking about my own experiences. You may have never had an unusual occurence in your life that you couldn't rationalize. Many people can tell of such experiences that have only a supernatural explanation. Different strokes for different folks. Maybe what you don't understand is that those of us who have felt God's presence, feel it so strongly that they can't be shamed, ridiculed or bullied out of their sureness of it's actuality.

Okay, so I got the title to the prayer wrong. I do know the lord's prayer by heart. It was one of the first I was forced to learn "for my own good"

But, this is the prayer I was referring to:

"Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
If I shall DIE BEFORE I WAKE,
I pray the Lord my soul to take. Amen."

Just what innocent little children need to think about when they are drifting off to sleep. "Am I going to wake up in the morning, or am I going to be murdered in my sleep?"

I don't believe that God sent a woman to him so that he could cheat on his wife. That would be God helping him break His own commandments. I do believe that God can make something good come out of something bad.

Empty judgements. I've never said I don't believe in god or that there is no god.

You remain closed minded to the possibility that what you believe might be wrong. You "know" things even though you've got no evidence to back up what you think you know.... Like you knowing or believing that I don't believe in a god. Turns out you didn't know.

Keep that mind closed and your nose pointed upwards.

I said that prayer as a child and it didn't have any adverse effect.

It never concerned me that I was going to die. It does tell us that when our bodies do die that our souls will continue on with God. That is the promise of Christianity.
