Forensics expert testified this crime had to have been committed by multiple people, yet prosecutors said they were pleased with the verdict. They need to investigate further. There should be more convictions in this case. I guess this is what happens during an election year. How can the forensic evidence be ignored? This investigation need to be reopened to prosecute all involved.

I feel like justice was not served in this case. Damien was mad an escape goat. He will win in his appeal. The State of Maryland also needs to be accountable for their actions. The understaffing of the jails and prisons with the over-crowdiness. My heart goes out to the Smoot family as well as the Woods family. Damien stay strong, we are praying for you. God Bless we will see at home soon.

This site has a lot of information about the case http://www.dameonwoods.com/ . I've followed the news and news articles during the trial. It boggles my mind how the jury convicted this man. But I do not have all the evidence that was considered. I pray for justice for the Smoot family and Mr. Woods.

GOOD FOR Mr. Smoot and his family, I happened to be incarserated at Baltimore Central Booking at that time and was two cells down from the incident. Mr. Woods not only was the cause of Mr. Smoots death but he bragged about what he had done afterwards. This incident was haunting to me, and ingrained in my head. I will never forget them pulling Mr. Smoots limp body, bloodied, eyes rolled in the back of his head out of his cell. I had just spoken to him before we locked in because he wasnt feeling well and noticed I had ibuprofin from sick call and needed one. I vowed to change my life after that, and havnt returned to jail since.

You can lie and fool man, but not God. I believe Woods is innocent, but may who were guilty are under attack rather it be health, wealth, job, children, etc. If by any chance the guilty parties come across this, it doesn't matter how saved you think you are, because until you unturn this wrong publicly. YOU ARE DESTINE FOR HELL:(

I would like to say i was not there when this incident took place. But I was a correctional officer during that time at another facility and if anyone know any thing about the State of MD Jail facilities you will know that it all about covering things up. However if someone if able to blame something on someone that is least likely to be innocent because of the haters that they have in the facility beause of jealouslness and envy and not allow there stupivisors to go down then that's what they will do.. But I am not saying that this smoot person deserved to die of get what happened to him but you do have a lot of inmates who are vwery nasty and unruly in the prison system and if he was anything like his brother who is still in and out of jail then what. But to sentence a innocent man that has a heart and a family to twenty years is so wrong and unjustice.

I believe the files and the evidence needs to be reevaluated in the woods case because that really is a innocent man. How can you convict a person who had no evidence on his uniform or shoes at the time of the incident and was one of the last to respond to the incident.
