I say Cooper be sentenced to live with Attorney Sam Roots since he's such an upstanding citizen who's been railroaded by a racist and uncaring society!

Rest in peace Ryan. You're always in our hearts. Either way it goes it is a sad sad story. It should never have happened and my heart really goes out to both families. I can't imagine what Ryan's family is feeling. No one could ever understand there pain. Nor could a life sentence fill the voids in their hearts. As for Cooper's family, I think you try your best as a parent and its sad when your son makes a terrible mistake. I hate to see a person with such a bright future go to prison for the rest of his life. But unfotunetly, when you make bad decisions, whether it was you or your involvement you have to suffer the consequences. I can't imagine what each family is feeling.... I hope their lives won't be in vain and that people will learn from Cooper's mistake. Think about the consequences before you act. And trust me your "friends" aint gonna be there when shit goes wrong.

His friends didnt get jail time because he wont say any names. 3 witnesses placed rob at the scene only one person could name all the shooters. Thats not enough evidence but it was for cooper. If it wasnt him he would have gave up his gun but he didnt. He had chances but he wants to cover up for his "friends" so he is going through what the other shooters dont and thats his fault.

The paper gives yall half the story they dnt mention how rob had people testifying for him tht were actually in his face when the shooting occured that all the witnesses against him were from a distance this is some bull S&%* I understand that Ryans family wants comfort but having the wrong man locked up is ridiculous and there is no justice n that, n that is something tht i cant agree upon but most people just read the newspaper and get there information , to make a judgement People need to come and actually see what went on during the trial and they would have a totally diffrent out look.... Free Rob he is an innocent man!!!

I see where you are coming from. And you are right... people should have been their to see what really went down. The one person who was " actually in his face when the shooting occured," was the last person you could count on to be completely honest. He has more at stake than you could know. If he is innocent the truth will set him free. The people that testified in his behalf really should have sat down with him and come up with a consistant story... because really... they hurt him more than helped him. Like I said before I feel for both families.

Well..i think that he should have told..he is going to prison for 40 years and his so called friends are free. Im pretty sure if the situation was revrsed they would without a doubt tell. And if he was so innocent y didnt he give up the gun numerous times when asked by the detective. AND why did the girl who claim he was on the ground with her story not check out when cooper was first questioned. The defense had wayyyyy to many inconsistences for the jury to even try to find an innocent verdict ...EVERYTHING was pointin aganist him...THREE eyewitnesses..Personally i dont think 40 years is enough he should rot in jail ..i bet he would give up who was shooting with him. and all of this..for what..a STUPID arguement that ended an innocent mans life.

It's said that he may not have been the actual murderer, but seeing as how he was there and involved, he definitely has something to do with it. And there comes a time in life where you have to look out for yourself. "He didn't mention any names." If he really didn't do it, and if he really had such a bright future ahead of him in which he believed, he would have spoken up. There's no way in hell that I am going to spend 40 years in jail for something I did not do... just because I don't want to "mention any names". That's crazy. And it's even crazier that these people he didn't wanna "speak up" for didn't "admit" that it was them. Odd.

Why should his attorney have to suffer? I guess an "upstanding" idiot like you doesn't realize that people have a right to be represented by counsel. It's part of what makes our nation a good place to live.

First of all my son Robert Cooper did not know Ryan nor did he take His life. Now we can go by facts or hear say totally up to u . First comment my son knew everybody out their including the shooters and he told the detectives but because he couldn't say he seen them pull the trigger it don't count.......ok my so was not convicted of killing Ryan he is convicted saying he acted in concert???? To judged my son was two weeks away from going in the navy he had a future and u can believe everyday my heart hurts but I'm a good mom I support my innocent son . One girl ebony pear tree boy friend big time drug dealer magic caught a fed case and she went to court on my son it didnt help her at all I hold no hard feelings for roots he did his best the court I have a problem with him. Last but not least my heart goes out to this Michael gentleman but that had nothing to do with that and the police have every gun from that scene and Robert never had a gun that night read the paperwork

I have never seen so much improper english in my entire life!!!!!! He was convicted because he was guilty and he will never win an appeal because like I said.........HE IS GUILTY! All of you thug trash including the mother should be held responsible also. The whole East End and Denbigh North of Menchville road 7-11 should be bulldozed and all the roaches who live in those area should be exiled. All this talk about HE WUZ A GUD BOY HE HAD HIM 1 OF DEM GUD FUTURES AHED OF HIM. HE WUZ ON DA RITE TRAK should all just shut up. 95 percent of the crime in this town is committed by you blue gum crabs. I guess I am glad they will not bulldoze your section 8 homes because I do not want you all coming in my neighborhood. I bet if Obama had a son he would look just like your son......huh mom. I am sure you have about 8 more sons and daughters because yall keep getting more welfare for each one you pop out and most f them are either in jail or o their way because you kept letting them speak EBONIX!!!! I know one of the teachers at Menchville and he told me your son was nothing but a thug wanna be gang banger! I wish you all would kill each other then this city might be nice again!!!

The Lord blessed me and I had the privilege of knowing Ryan RIchards, he was the most energetic, caring, funny, big hearted, big smiled, compassionate, short and funny kid. From kindergarten to about 6th grade I had him in all my classes and I can imagine how amazing of a person he turned out to be. The way Ryan passed should not be mourned anymore we should celebrate the life he lived and how many people he touched in his precious lifetime. My heart and prayers go out to the Richards family.

Don't like the verdict, then get the real witnesses to stop avoiding testifying in court.

I am sorry, but without public participation justice suffers, and things don't go forward in a fair enough manner.

Quit suffering criminals in your own midst people. Testify.
