I LOVE all the previous comments. They just about covered all the overlooked songs with "Baltimore" in its title. I'll add another: "Baltimore Sun" by The Jayhawks.

Just saw the video for "A Baltimore Love Thing" on YouTube. What a piece of ****. 50 Cent is nothing more than a ********** THUG! Wearing a ******* New York Yankees cap even though "BALTIMORE" is in the title. REE-PULSIVE!

How could you compile a list of Baltimore songs and leave out Baltimore's own Frank Zappa and his "What's New in Baltimore?"?
That is like ignoring Cal Ripken when you talk about Baltimore baseball players.
Your paper covered the upcoming Zappa Plays Zappa show last year and even quoted Mayor Sheila Dixon as having declared August 9 as Frank Zappa Day.
There are several versions circulating and some have lyrics. Check out "Does Humor Belong in Music?" or "You Can't Do that on Stage Anymore, Volume 5.

Thanks for correcting the spelling of Gram Parsons.I can't believe the intrepid staff of the Sun overlooked "The Baltimore Sun" by the late great band from Minnesota: The Jayhawks.

Sorry Rupe and Attila the Hon beat me to the punch with the Jayhawks, here's a few more mentions of Baltimore: "Bright Future in Sales" by Fountains of Wayne; "Thank You Louise" by Ryan Adams (a great song by the way); "Friends" also by Ryan Adams; "How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times And Live?" by Bruce Springsteen; "Looking At The World Through A Windshield" by Son Volt.

In recognizing the overall loss of such a great show, I started seeking out any videos I could find about The Wire. I found a great one where David Simon talks about the affections he feels for Baltimore and how the city has influenced his work.

Back in the late 1970s early '80s, WIYY used to play a song that was a takeoff of the Standells' "Dirty Water", re-written to reflect Baltimore. Also a good choice would be "Walking in an Essex Wonderland" they used to play every Christmas.

Peter Case also has a song titled "Baltimore" (perhaps autobiogrpphical) about him getting mugged and stomped on a cold snowy day. It's very catchy,

Hackensaw Boys "Baltimore" and The Duhks "Dance Hall Girls" - doesn't have Baltimore in the title, but the chorus ends with "is that the way it always is here in Baltimore?"

"Dance Hall Girls' by Alan Fraser and performed by The Duhks.

"Is that the way it always is here in Baltimore...?"
