This was a place that was terrible. I went there for almost about 8 months due to a mean judge. Please if you would like my story of different terrible things that took place there. Email me at dawnperkey@msn.com.
Thanks,
Dawn

I am working on a project that may lead to a possible book. I am interested in hearing from anyone who was EVER at Montrose School (a juvenile facility closed in the 80's) or anyone who knew someone who was there.
The data I am gathering has to do with the treatment of juveniles at that (and other ) facilities in Maryland, and I would welcome hearing from anyone ever in any juvenile facility that housed FEMALES only, starting in the 50's and continuing through to today.
I do NOT need to know your name or anything that is too personal. I am only interested in general treatment of juveniles in such facilities, and how the treatment has changed over the years. I would like an email contact so that I can send a questionnaire, and to make futher email contact if more data is needed. However I do NOT need to have any more personal info for this project. It is to do with GENERAL information only.

Hi everybody, I haven't been on here in long time. But I never forget abt this site and try and chk it every time I move and every time I change my email addr. Between 1968&69 they went from form system which were numbers & time there. Number 1 was best, then 2, then around a holiday early form 2, 3 was what you started out new (& wanted to move up from as soon as time there & behavior would let you) and then 4 & as somebody said earlier was lockup. They changed from that system to badges (I gave my experiences in getting screwed w/o so much as a thanx in detail in a previous post). Blue badges were best and I think I still have mine if I didn't lose it in my house fire (I think that was one of the few things that survived along with the shirt it was attached to). So many changes happened at Montrose it seemed btween 68 thru abt 1970. In early '69 it was still all girls, no smoking and a lot stricter. Very few girls succeeded in running. I still don't see anybody here who was there in my time. My name was Ruth Harrison and was from (and am back there again) P.G. Co. There weren't many of us, most were from Balto. City & Co. I didn't even know there was a difference back then. The Susan I mentioned in a previous post was from Salisbury and that was the other side of the world back then. She was the very first frm the Eastern Shore was what they told her. Hopefully, someone from my time will find this post. It amazes me girls" from the fifties (I might be wrg but didn't somebody from the "40's post on here?) post here. Well everybody, "keep on postin'"

Hi,
My name is Ariel. My mother went to Montrose in 1980. Her name is Muriel Kirby. She met my birth father there. The only info that I have is his name. Michael Bradley. If you have any info that will help me find him please contact me. arielallure@yahoo.com
OMG! I remember Mrs Francis, too! She would give me cigarettes and talk to me in my room when I was down. She smoked Winston 100s. I wonder if she is still around. I'd love to contact her and thank her.

I was raped by a night guard while in isolation in the lock up building. I think they called it the "medical" building. It was 1979 - we had a huge blizzard and snow piled up to like 8 feet. He snuck in my cell and raped me - I was so scared. I never told anyone until many years later.

The building was called the clinic. We did not have security guards when I was there in 1964. I was in Sanford cottage, and later Myer. Myer was known as the sister cottage. My sister and I were there. There were three sisters there during my stay. The sisters names were Mary, Eva Coates. I can't think of the third sister's name.

I am gathering information on closed Maryland hospitals that closed in the 80's. There is one that seems to be a mystery "MOUNT WILSON STATE HOSPITAL" it was in MT. Wilson Maryand, now called Baltimore md. It was in Reisterstown on Mount Wilson lane. The history behind it, seems to have been missing. If anyone has any information about this hospital please reply. Any information would be helpful. thank you

If anyone was in Montrose in 1964 to 1966 please reach out. I am thankful for this site. I learned info about staff that have passed. I use to keep in touch with Mrs. Crowned, Mr. Myers and Mr. Gholston.
