I have a 2008 Volvo c70 2.0D,Volvo claim a combined fuel consumption figure of 46.3mpg for this model,no matter how gently i drive it i cannot get better than 35mpg,quite a difference.

I have the same model and normal driving I get around 38mpg. Driving very gently, freewheel down hills, 0 to 60 in 30 seconds I have had it up to 42mpg.
Very short shifting i.e. change latest 2,000 to 2,500 revs helps. This works because torque still gives good lift when driving very gently. Mine goes in for 12,500 service next week and am told there may be a software update. There is no doubt that the extra weight of the hardtop and necessary body strengthening required on a convertible makes big difference. But this is a Ford power unit (Ford own Volvo) and I have heard that this unit is renowned for not meeting claimed mpg in any model variant, even the fords |
