Is anyone aware of a 3rd Party solution that would connect the iPod directly into the audio system rather than via an FM transmitter? Can this be done at a car audio place?

Volvo is making an adapter that on our XC90's plugs into the center console. Only problem they have found a way to upload "Volvo for life" to your ipod screen when in use. In other words you have no capability of seeing any of the information normally displayed on your ipod screen, including your music.

If anyone finds a solution i would love it as well.

I believe that the solution you are mentioning is available only for other models but for the XC90. Did you find that info on the Volvo website?

I would like to run XM radio (commander style) through my XC90's factory radio without seeing the, less than attractive, controller. Any ideas...is this RF controlled or IR? If it is RF, where can I hade the controller?

Just checked this yesterday with Volvo. Nothing available for XC90 until later this year (Sept/Oct) due to fiber optics in vehicle, but is available for other models (XC70, V70 etc)

Check http://www.usaspec.com/ , presently they have the **best** iPod integration for Volvo.

And a plus: it has an AUX input that lets you connect any other external source at the same time.

Best regards.

I'm another person with a 2005XC 90.
I'm tired of driving with IPOD and headphones.:)

Looking for a solution other than FM transmitter, which doesn't work very well.

Any ideas or suggestions.

They replaced my cracked screen with a new one for $40.00 I sent it out Monday and it got to them wedenesday and they sent me a Emal stating that it arrived, and the repair was being made, and will give me another email with tracking when it was mailed out. Well it now is Thursday and I have Tracking #. Now it is Friday I finally received my IPOD WOW!!!!!! It works again, and brand new. These guys are a must to try and also to top it all off they DO all IPODS except the shuffle. They even gave me a 3 month warranty for the screen against any malfunction. Yes there are ways you can do it. Search "aux input adapter for xc90" in google. It costs about 100 dollars not including installation and you might need to buy a male to male 3.5 mm stereo cable to connect your ipod to the aux port.
