nikki wrote: I just got a volkswagen 2000 beetle and there is this light in the dash that goes on and I have no idea what it means. It's yellow and it looks like a little rectangular thing with a arrow in the shape of a lightening bolt going into it, and it says check. I don't have a users manual. I bet it would help in this situation. It drives just fine. I noticed it when on when I almost popped the clutch.. if that has anything to do with it. Please help ! I'm scared to drive it. haa. I don't have an answer for this because I have the same problem. Did anyone ever answer this for Nikki? I really need to know too. I don't have a book and am afraid something bad is going to happen.

Sal wrote: Have a 2000 VW Beetle & had a host of problems of which the window is the current problem. Hit the switch to lower the window & Halfway it got stuck & made a very strange grinding sound. Won't budge either way. the switch went out in 2004 & they wanted $90 plus for it. Now the window repair is going to cost $389 plus to repair. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a recall repair Available? I recall something to that effect Any help would be appreciated. I've had problems with my window for years. I hit the switch to put it up and halfway up it goes back down. I've had to push it with my hand to keep it going. today, it started going up and just cracked and broke inside the door. It's done now.

Said day:( My daughter wrecked her yellow 2000vw beetle GLS. Waiting on insurance company to give us the dreadful news. It has been a really good car, no major defects since she has had it. She had it repaired 1 time before when she hit a pole in the parking lot at walmart, with front end damage. This time she hit a horse. If I remember correctly we had her window car regulator fixed at car dealer for free, I do believe that there was a recall or it was a problem they knew had to be fixed. I really don't remember having to pay for it.

Dori wrote: My 2000 New Beetle is possesed. I parked the car and started to get out when the alarm went off. Had to restart the car back up and pull into the parking space again, then shut it off and get out a second time to make the alarm go off. Next, the remote key would not lock the doors, however it would unlock them as well as unlock the truck. At the same time when I turned on the lights for the dash to light up a constant beep alarm sounded. Once I got home and got out of the car the drivers side inside door light refused to go off. Geeeeeze, does anyone have a clue what could cause all of this to happen at once. Does anyone else have any of these problems. This 2000 Beetle only has 40K miles on it. I called the dealer and was told it's most likely a door actuator problem. I also called the 800 number for VW and they said they had never heard of anything like this happening, however it could be a wire harness problem. Before I spend thousands of dollars on this issue I would like feed back from others that might have experienced similar problems. I don't know what's wrong, but I have the same problems. I'm reading all over the internet and we aren't alone. My bug is possessed too. First my windows would go up half way, now they don't work at all; my alarm works, but the red light doesn't come one; the driver's side door won't lock/unlock with the key fob, but it work on the passenger side door and the trunk. I'm hoping someone has some idea what is going on. When I unlock the door with the key, get in put my key in the ignition the alarm almost always goes off before I can get it started. My battery now stays plugged in every night because it won't start otherwise. I'm like you I'd like to have some idea what's going on before the mechanic walks me down the garden path. Somebody please help.
