Why do people drive trucks that don't need them???

I've seen so many men and women buy huge trucks and they don't actually use them for truck purposes. For example there is this big guy who is a nurse at a nearby clinic that I see drive a huge GMC truck and even though it looks a couple years old there isn't a single scratch in the bed. Posers?

Just a feeling of power and/or safety. And some people just take pride in their trucks.
