so this is a road use tax?...or a high gas mileage tax?...my VW Diesel Beetle gets 45-48 mpg...as much as a Prius...as do most motorcycles...what about the moped riders...seems to me these FatCats need to get their head screwed on straight

I think this is rather questionable, too. I think some politicians have their thumbs in the oil industry, and are trying to pass this off as "not having enough money for the roads".

Hybrids and electric cars will eventually become more popular, yes. But that's an inevitability of higher gas prices.

Anyone driving a car with an Obama sticker needs to pay a $500 dollar fine.

And bicycles that want to use the road should pay for the cost of marking bike lanes, providing signs and all the other associated costs for them to have the right to pedal their big butts on public streets. There is a cost associated with having bikes/bike lanes. If there's no more free lunch, there's no more free lunch. Cha ching. Pay up.

And pedestrians will have to pay a "shoe tax", and people who sit on benches will have to pay a "butt tax".

Don't even get me started on their rights on streets. First rule is follow the same rules everyone else has to follow.

If the fees are for road tax usage on gasoline then I need to be able to buy untaxed gas for my engines that do not use the highways, IE Lawn mower, tractor, generator, boat, weed trimmer, leaf blowers, tillers...

Jesus loves you and so do I! But the hybrid drivers are not paying their fair share to maintain the roads, so they must pay more in tax. AMEN! Afterall, hybrid drivers are yuppies and can afford to pay more. AMEN!

The liberal progressive socilist democrats are all for raising taxes...unless it is on them! Hybrid drivers tend to be liberal voters. I am proud the republican legislature has chosen to raise taxes on the liberals to pay their fair share of road mainentance. Jesus Christ is Lord! AMEN!
