What does China's response to an earthquake have to do with a Toyta Prius?
I'm surprised anyone has any money these days, to buy a new car in the first place.
Who buys new. Not me EVER again. I'm not ever going to lose 20% just by signing the title. Doesn't matter if it never leaves the lot.

Once was enough for me. NEVER again.

Hooray, more Americans out of work. Prius made in Japan means Americans out of work. Let's see if we can make the Japanese the richest people on Earth.

I suppose that you were unaware that Toyota operates 13, soon to be 14 manufacturing plants in North America.

I'm definitely NOT anti union but where does the profit from GM Ford and Chrysler go?
Yeah.... right into some fat execs pocket and lump in a few stock holders too. I do not hear any belly aching from any of those Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Suburu etc workers or any of them going on strike. My new chevy truck was assembled in Canada. My wife Vibe (basically a Toyota) in California go figure. It is time to look ahead.

I'm not saying it is a bad thing...you have to experiment to develop new technology, and really good technology will become cost effective, but due to the special construction and disposal needs, the hybrids are dirtier in the long wrong than a similar sized combustion engine vehicle right now. They are cleaner only during their "usable" lifecycle from the owner/operator perspective, but in terms of total pollutants to the environment they are not.

I realize that they are just an experiment...and that is good, but hybrids really end up poluting much more than a combustion engine vehicle of the same size. From construction to destruction, especially with the batteries, they end up poluting more. You just don't feel it when you own it. If everyone who drove a V8 SUV switched to my Toyota 4Runner V6...it would equal the gasoline savings of 3 people switching to Hybrid cars. The owner would save $10-15K in sales price and a lot more in fuel cost over the life of the vehicle. That would be positively impactful on the planet and is economically sustainable to the consumer. Paying $10K more for a Prius than a similar sized combustion engine car is not going to be sustainable in the current market.

What a trade off.

Screw the prius. You want a secure and fuel efficient car? Buy a GERMAN DIESEL.
They come in station wagon form as well, had 6 airbags and safety features BEFORE any of the other idiot automakers, can swap bi-xenons into them from the same model, add the new RNS-510 touch screen nav system. Engines last well over 500k miles AND get up to 60 mpg. And vehicle stability control as you put it (ESP) is a Mercedes invention. Seeing as the Germans pioneered over half of the auto tech everyone else now copies, why WOULDN'T you just buy a German car.
Now if only the idiot marketers at the Euro automakers would import their AWD models instead of front wheel drive only, along with their new euro only hybrid diesel at over 70 MPG.
Everyone tries to live up to the Euro benchmark, and they fail. Look at honda, trying to copy the passat.
2005 VW Passat diesel
2006 VW Jetta diesel
1978+ Mercedes diesels
I've given thought to buying a diesel Jetta. I've heard over 50% of Europe has diesel powered cars. I currently drive a Lincoln MKZ. The new diesel cars are far more efficient.

The batteries are expected to last as long as the car. If by chance they do fail you can replace individual cells within the battery which are not that expensive.
Was going to buy two prius an strap them to my feet to roller blade to work.
Very efficient...LOL

We are looking for a new car and drove Mercedez diesel. The engine has a constant hum, which I can tolerate, but my wife hates it. If you can tolerate the (slightly) increased noise, diesels are great cars, too. The noise level in new diesel is higher than her 11 year old Camry. Hybrids, on the other hand, are extremely quiet.

LOL... Oh, a Prius Nascar race. Imagine how quiet it would be. You could hold conversation with your friends. Clearly no ear protection required. Just the gentle hum. The loudest thing might be one slamming into the wall....LOL

The problem with the German automakers is that they focus so much on "new technology" and not on implementing things that work that their cars tend to break down more often than Japanese cars. The Japanese cars may be borring/buying some of the technology from the Germans but they keep their cars more simple and therefore more reliable. A great car loaded with technology doesn't do you a lot of good if its in the shop often. I've owned a Honda Accord for almost 10 years and other than routine maintenance its never been in the shop becuase nothing has broken on it. I can't say the same for my friends with Jetta's and Passats.

They compete very well. I didn't get to save the report but it said you'd never realize the savings to price with a Prius while Ford's version, which one is it, the savings paid back in 3 years.
Ford has also met, and in some cases exceeded Toyota's quality.
Just why is we aren't hearing the truth about the real differences between the US manufactures and the foreign manufacturers? Because too many people WANT to hear the foreign manufacturers are superior.
Like the ford "commercial" that said that Ford has met or exceeded Toyotas' quality, "you" are a dummy and stupid. This does NOT provide confidence in fords' quality; on the contrary, the commercial CONTINUES to support and bolster Toyotas' quality as the tops in the automotive industry!

TOYOTA manufactures the best vehicles and gives you the best value for your dollar!

DONT settle for anything else OR you'll be getting less!

Nothing says idiot, sissy, and loser like someone whose nick name is Hussein Obama. Get a "real" life!

ANYONE driving a Prius is an "intelligent" and practical car owner.
