Going green isn't luxurious enough, Orlando tells car-service o...
Orlando is trying to go green, but you wouldn't know it by talking to T.J. Donaghy.

Hey, Heather Allebaugh, hybrid cars are pricey enough to be called luxury cars. Camrys can come equipped with plenty of high end add-ons.
Orlando, or any city that's part of a region with a cartoon mouse as part of its economic base, has no reason to be snobby. Get real! |

Typical Buddy Dyer type response. Get a clue Buddy, this isn't a big time glamour city no matter how much you try to convince yourself. You are just a mayor in medium sized city at best who's only contribution to this world is an overpriced mouse trap.

Stupid is as stupid does. A new Camery is a much better riding car than a 10 year old Towncar!

Orlando leaders past and present just don't understand Orlando is not Las Vegas, New Orleans, or Atlantic City and NEVER will be, so come down off your pedstal and realize that all Disney World and Universal ever contributed to Central Florida is GRIDLOCK!!!!

I agree that luxury town car services should not include Toyotas in their fleet.

Why in the hell is the local government making decisions for private business in the first place?
This is a prime example of 'over regulation'. |
|

Morons!!!!!
What else can I say????? |

Very stupid. Once again, Orlando leaders show their arses. They have NO BUSINESS telling business owners what brand of cars they can drive. When the tourist or client books the car, they should be told that it is a Toyota Camery Hybrid. I would be thrilled if one picked me up. Paint it black, tinted windows and leather seats.......it would be no different than other "black cars" in REAL cities.
I don't live in Orlando or Orange County but the voters need to wake up and CLEAN HOUSE....all of those clowns have been in office too long and need replacing. Dyer, Crotty and Beary need to be first to go... |

"The city regulates five classes of "for hire" vehicles, from taxicabs to limousines and shuttle vans."
Good heavens. Five classes? This is over regulation at it's finest. |

Amazing that real cities like New York have no problems with hybrids in their city car fleet but a wannabe city like Orlando thinks people want to be seen in something as dated as a Lincoln Town Car?

Mayor Buddy D. is a small time putz in a big town...Orlando is still just a big town with a small town Mayor making stupid decisions...there is NO reason that the fuel efficient Toyota Camry should NOT be added to the fleet...as another poster said...add tinted windows, black leather interior and make them all black...they wouild make great cars to pick people up in...and they would be more fuel efficient than those big 10 yr. old gas guzzling Lincoln Town Cars...and why is the Mayor dictating what a private business can or cannot do...?

I've used black car services many times in Boston and NYC and more than a few, have been picked up by a Camry XLS. Maybe the city bureaucrats are too used to their crown vics and lincoln navigators to notice how comfortable a Camry can be.
I wonder what Buddy drives? |

um*********what is a lexus based on? A lexus is a luxury car. a camry. all govt types are incompetent untill proven otherwise.

I have what is considered a luxury car. My wife and I recently looked at a Camry and it was every bit as nice. In fact, the leather was plusher than my car and the interior cabin space was just amazing. It even had reclining back seats.
I understand wanting to maintain "standards" but in this case, it seems the city is a little out of touch with reality. Today's Camry is not the same one that was rolling around 5 years ago. Now it's a Lexus-lite. |

Hey, Toyota/Lexus makes the 460h hybrid. Its a real Lexus and should qualify. I believe its around a $100,000 This would kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Ask her about her health insurance and pension she will be receiving. Where do they find people. They seem immune to our property taxes, and now gas prices.

Just another indication that Orlando has no clue I'm afraid I made a mistake when I moved to Orlando.

Here's a solution I was able to come up with in less than four minutes worth of research:
Buy the Lexus GS450h, a hybrid version of the mid-level Lexus GS. It's definitely a luxury car, it's definitely a hybrid, and it definitely gets better gas mileage than a Town Car (22 mpg city/25 mpg highway versus 15/23 for the Town Car). How easy was that? This is a lot of hullaballoo for nothing. |
