This is a dumb decision. You cannot compare the fuel efficiency of the yaris to the prius. Hard to implement? I doubt it. More likely toyota
doesn't want to spend the money now since sales are down or they want people to buy the more expensive prius.

Our daughter has a Yaris. It is not a very good vehicle. I undersand why Toyota did not want to waste more money on the Yaris.

The build quality is not that good. The plastic interior flexes and pops. When we bought the car for her the wheels were not balanced. She started on a drive and had to get the tires balanced at a Firestone. She was on the road. For the money I would expect a car to be little better than that one. Maybe it is a lemon. It just seems like Toyota is getting cheaper and cheaper with their products. My goodness the thing reminds me of the old Chevettes.

thanks. I am always interested in someone's experience with a vehicle. My guess is this is why
the ceo was fired. He probably stressed production
too much and quality suffered. It'll take toyota a while to earn back the reputation they had.

My 2008 runs great...no problems no complaints...I only wish it had cruise...I got 40mph on a trip this weekend....why would you want to pay for a hybrid when it already gets great millage without the extra cost. Anybody else had there Yaris over 100mph besides me?

I am assuming you meant 40 mpg and not mph. And my civic hybrid gets much better mileage. I am
averaging between 55 and 59 mpg.

Yeah I meant mpg. That is 40 mpg, on regular gas, at 70+mph, in a fully loaded car with the AC on driving in hilly terrain.
So what did your hybrid car cost? 25-30 grand? More? Mine was $12,500. Are comparing apples and oranges?
Tell me about me a non electric/hybrid car, that costs the same or less, with the same dependability, performance and quality.
I've owned American cars my whole life....still have a 10mpg 1993 Ford Bronco in the driveway. This Toyota is my commuter and nobody...not even Ford (who BTW is the only American Company I would buy from again, because they are the only one that didn't get on the tax payer bailout gravy train)could compare when I bought it in 2008. The car has over 20,000 miles on it and has had zero problems.
And BTW...to you on here that post like your a 8 year old child...if you don't drive one of these cars...you have NO opinion that matters, period!

Out of curiosity I’m wondering about a comment you posted earlier. You said that you would only buy from Ford because they didn’t get on the welfare gravy train. I always question if people that make these comments understand that Toyota is on the Japanese government welfare gravy train as well. Further, Japanese makers have always been protected and funded by their government, why don’t people ever take this into account? The Japanese government funded the Toyota hybrid technology as well.

It’s just amazing that they didn’t put cruise control on that thing. I wanted to know for sure if it really didn’t have it.

I don't know and don't care about the Japanese Government. I'm a American tax payer and all I care about is where MY tax dollars go. Hey if Japan wants to spend it's money to build a better car for me to drive...great.

FYI...not only does the Yaris NOT have cruise...it was NOT an option for the 2008 model...I can't speak for the newer ones. But...it is not a big V8 cruiser either...it's for me what I needed...a inexpensive daily driver to get me to work and back home. I have the big bad fully loaded 93 Bronco XLT to play with on the weekend....a great truck BTW...220,000 with the original motor, tranny and drive train...and it has never leaked a drop. Too bad it only gets 10.4 mpg and that's after I added the cold air kit.

To keep the price down the US version of the Toyota Yaris does not offer cruise control. I read that the wires for cruise control are there. All you have to do is order the cruise control from Toyota and install it yourself.

maybe Toyota should just send the car in a box to your home and you could build the entire vehicle yourself it looks homebuilt anyway

Mercury turning retro is offering you the chance to make sweeping and long-lasting changes to your life, and to clear the ground for some fertile growth in 2010. Lawyers and legal matters, debates, contract negotiations, partnership or other alliances, and joint ventures of any kind need attention. As a Cancerian you don't like endings, but you must now bring an end to any situation or relationship that is holding you back or has passed its sell-by date.
