You may have tin whiskers in your accelerator pedal. They cause short circuits making the engine control unit think it's been told to do something it hasn't been. The environmentalist fear lead in solder and have demanded it be removed. Well it was there for a reason because it worked well. Lead free solder doesn't work well see links.
