What i can't seem to understand is why it has taken so long to begin with? It's a well known fact that mothers, who are generally more env. conscious, make the big purchase choices in a household and mini-vans top the list when it comes to cars for shuttling the kids to and fro the soccer field. You'd think that a hybrid van would be one of the first vehicle types to hit the market. C'mon Toyota we're practically begging here!

Sorry, I can't tell you who I am, or how I know this, (so please don't ask), but here is the latest on the 2008, 2009, and new for 2010 Sienna. The 2008 Sienna will continue its production line through August 2008. Starting in September 2008, and running through February 2009 will be the 2009 Sienna with very minor changes to the 2008 body style. The 2009 Sienna will be a short run with an all new Sienna going into production in March 2009 as a 2010 model year. Production is expected to continue primarily from our Evansville, Indiana plant. There is currently discussion of a Hybrid being added for the 2010 model year but that decision will be made almost exclusively based upon the availability of the components for the Hybrid Synergy Drive and whether capacity exists at Evansville. As demand is expected to be high for a Sienna Hybrid and with the possibility of very limited supply of the HSD, the actual production of the Sienna Hybrid may not begin until August 2010 as a 2011 model. I hope this has helped you to make informed decisions as how to proceed with you future purchases and thank you for your enthusiasm with the Sienna.

I just came from a Toyota dealership where I was researching a new AWD Sienna. I asked when the hybrid Sienna was coming out and was told fall 2008 for the 2009 model. I can't wait!

My wife and I have been driving a Sienna XLE Limited since 2004. We love the versatility, especially with respect to the remote access side and rear doors, as they make it easy to load and unload three kids under age 5 and their gear. We get 19 mpg no matter how we drive and WOULD KILL TO GET OUR HANDS ON A HYBRID. What's the delay!

I am like Dave. I can't tell you who I am or how I get my info. But, as far as I know they will not be coming out with a hybrid for the 2008 or 2009 model. But, I am sure it is in the works. Dave's info sound accurate.

I interned in Detroit in '04 for one of the Big Three. My summer project was to develop a marketing campaign for a new line of cars. The main focus of our project was high MPG vehicles. Well now gas is double what it was in 04 and still no hybrids from the company I worked for. I wish I could say I was shocked.

If anyone is listening (Dave) please tell the upper mgmt at Toyota to stop using the HSD parts to make salon (aka Trendy) cars like the Prius and build a Hybrid Sienna!!!!!!!!!!

In the 1990's people in America wanted the following:
-Big Cars (We don't have efficient public transit in the US)
-Big Engine (Gas was cheap)

Since about 2004, people have wanted the following:
-Big Cars (We don't have efficient public transit in the US)
-High MPG (Gas was cheap)

I would almost guarantee that a hybrid minivan (60-40 mpg) would sell out in a matter of days

Never thought I would ever want a minivan and still do not. However with all the car seats we have (3 kids in) we are seriously thinking of buying one. Like others, I will suffer for 2 years rather than break down and buy a minivan which gets about the same MPG as my Honda Pilot. Toyota get off your duff if you want my business.

I am thinking of buying a Highlander Hybrid, but would actually rather have a AWD Sienna Hybrid inasmuch as the Sienna gets a higher overall rating in Consumer Report. However, anyone who thinks a Sienna Hybrid is going to get 40 mpg has got to be dreaming. My Camry Hybrid gets about 36 overall, but the Highlander Hybrid only about 24, again according to Consumer Reports. If they stick a six cylinder engine in a Sienna with the hybrid feature, I would be amazed (but extremely gratified) if it got even 30 mpg combined. I would not be considering the Highlander Hybrid if it were not for a $4,093 Colorado tax credit for the base model.

Kim and Dave thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I believe you guys. I wish I could wait for a hybrid Sienna but I guess I'll have to buy a regular one for now.

I couldn't wait to see the new hybrid Sienna with Navigation system (standard feature). Hopefully they'll offer some good deals for buyers(not too expensive).

Hybrid version won't be available for the 2009 models since dealers in my area are taking order for the 2009 models.

I think the 2010 model will be completely redesigned and I also heard that the Sienna name might be dropped for the 2010 model. Is this true?

As far as the hybrid version is concerned, I think it will cost more than the Limited model and might not be worth the price. Just like every other Toyota with the Hybrid in its line-up, it is also the most expensive model. The exception being the Prius. It is its own model.

I own a Sienna XLE, this vehicle is without doubt the best 7 seater van in the world, I bought a new Sienna in October last year after looking at all 7 seaters available this vehicle is what all other manufactures use as the bench mark on standards. I only wish the vehicle was available in the UK instead we have to put up with rubbish from other manufactures and that is no understatement. I have just bought a Hybrid Lexus RX here in the UK and run 2 other cars that are probably described as some of the best vehecles in the world and I still think my Sienna is without doubt a vehicle that will always have a place in my personal vehicle line up not only in the USA but also in the UK if Toyota decides to treat us brits, me I will order another new sienna in the new model next year and put my name down for a hybrid Sienna too, so knowing what’s going on allows people to order in the future, I thank you for your assistance, and so should Toyota as you have helped their sales.

I just want some confirmation there will be a future with Siennas! I am on my second one now and will purchase a third once it has been redesigned and updated, both overdue by now. My dealer will reveal nothing, but unless I have some reason to hope I am going to start browsing competitors.

I loved my 2006 sienna and know it saved my life - so after walking away from a highway cross over accident -(the other person came across)- I'm in the market for a new Sienna. Where is the hybrid? Toyota could corner the market - well what's left of it.
