I,ve heard that. But mine.....not so much. Transmissions and piston slap doomed it. But it was a 99, so maybe they're OK now?

Altima 75000 miles!! Wow. Its not even broken in.
I have a 2002 Passat 1.8T 90000 miles. Thermostat and coils changed (coils on a recall). But car
hasnt even passed 100k so nothing major should
go wrong. When it reach 200k w/o major problem
then I can brag (a little). Just do correct
maintenance and full synthetic oil and car should
last til at leat 300 k.

My Kia Seranto has over 250,000 miles with nothing more than routine maintenance done on it. Great value and AWD is outstanding.

2004 subaru wrx impreza, 146000 miles, only 1 small rubber hose replaced so far besides regular oil change/maintainance..still as fast as the 1st day...Previous Acura/Honda/Toyota did not come close. The performance for those decreased substantially over time

Toyota "assembles" not "manufactures" cars in the US -- they didn't have recall problems until our lovely country, the most selfish, self-centered country in the world demanded that they do that and allowed US auto worker hands on them - typical lazy, unreliable US auto workers. None of them have the pride that the Japanese culture has. Can you imagine this scenario -- any of the Big 3 has a safety recall (hmmmmm, think about how often that happens - year after year after year they do) they get up, stop production, stop sales and fix the problem. GM, Ford and Chrysler would have been out of business years ago!!! But they don't have the class or pride to do that. Should have let them all go out of business instead of dumping tax payer money into the wasteful, mafia-run unions. Take a look at the worst cars made - GM has 4 of the top 7!!! All of them are the US "big three". I've driven Toyota since 1973 and will drive nothing but.

When are you going to realize that Toyota employs Americans, stimulates the American economy? NASCAR - the most American sport has the Dodge Charger made in Canada, the Chevrolet Impala made in Canada and the Ford Fusion made in Mexico....the Toyota Camry is the only one made in America (Kentucky)! I think you need to complain to the American companies to be American, not Toyota!!!!
