Full story: WTNH Hartford, New Haven and Connecticut

The recall affects Highlanders built between May 2007 and March 2008. The seatbelt in the third row seat may not be secure for a rear-facing car seat.

I am glad they are unemployed. Anyone that buys a Toyota deserves to lose thier job. Nothing make me smile more than to hear someone with a Jap car has lost thier job..

Ignorance is truly bliss...First its shameful to wish anyone and worse for both couple in a family to be unemployed in this economy. Second, I bet that this highlander was built in the US by Americans and assuming you have an American brand, most likely its built in Canada or Mexico. Easy enough to check your VIN. Remember, there is a difference in American built and American brand.

It's sad that we judged peoples with their choices of vehicle and infortunately peoples that lost their jobs, shame on you. If Toyota is number one it's only a question of quality. I have always bought GM but since I tried TOYOTA I see a difference, but it doesn't mean GM isn't good quality. but I think it's a good thing as competition push GM to do better product and therefore better truck in the future. for your information i bought a TOYOTA HIGHLANDER in USA built in JAPAN and i live in CANADA....Be smart buy the best not only a Brand name.

Unlike AMERICAN car manufacturers, Toyota has plants here, in the US employing Americans building their cars. They pay on average more than the American car companies, do, they offer better benefits, and they help support the community through tax dollars and donations. So you sound like a moron.

American car companies will do anything to save a dollar including having the cars built in other countries where it's cheaper, then importing them back here. They also wind up hiring less Americans to do the work, don't pay the tax dollars into communities, and you can see how well they run their companies by looking at Detroit.

ALL car manufacturers have recalls at some point or another. Toyota seems to have lots of seat belt issues. Ford has issues with engines catching on fire and cars exploding. And the American car companies have had most of the major recalls. Plus, if you look at the resale value of a Toyota Highlander vs let's say a Ford Explorer, the Toyota will hold it's value a lot better.

The 2008 Explorer starts at $28,470. According to KBB a 2008 in excellent condition with 1 mile is worth $17,000. A 2008 Highlander starts at $25,705. Trade value on that car with 1 mile is $22,500. So you tell me where the value is.

The car that costs more out of the door is worth almost half as much with 1 mile on it, while the car that costs $2700 less is worth just $3,000 less after that same mile driven.

American car manufacturers lack the overall value of foreign cars. It isn't just Asian manufacturers that reap the rewards. It's every manufacturer not based here. And how about the American control of oil supplies? The foreign cars were first to offer safe, affordable cars that got high gas mileage. The way you speak, you know, like a moron, I'm sure you wouldn't mind opening the case of your computer and see where the components on the motherboard are made. Maybe you can tell us which brand American tv you own. And I'm sure not one of the products in your house says "Made in China" "Made in Taiwan" "Made in Korea" or any other country. Moron.

And as a free American I am entitled to shop where I can get the most value for my dollar. Supporting a losing team is stupid. America lost that race. Our electronics are foreign. Our cars are foreign. Our game systems are foreign. Our clothes are foreign. Our food is largely imported. We get so many things from other countries because we can't do it affordably or well.

That's the dumbest page I've read yet. So American cars outsourced to cheaper countries employing foreigners are better because the companies make bigger profits while foreign manufacturers employ Americans and pay tax dollars here, but their profits go overseas? Really? Who cares where the profits go. They're entitled to profit, and they're doing it by employing Americans.

And in that guy's personal experience American cars last just as long? Really? Maybe he should look up some cold hard facts so he would see that isn't true. In my personal experience Red Sox fans are dicks. So I guess it must be a fact since that's my perception.

Screw that. BUY FOREIGN. Even American rating companies like JD Powers rates Toyota the number 1 car manufacturer beating ALL the domestic cars. Not only that, MOST of the foreign cars crush MOST of the American cars.

Turn around the poor workmanship and low value American cars have then we'll talk. When I can get an American car that gets those reviews I'll consider it. The only American cars I would try if I had the money right now would be the new Camaro, the new Challenger, and maybe something like an F-150. I have no use for any of those, though and I love my car.

And fuck anyone who says Americans don't have the right to be happy with their purchase.

Oh, so YOU know no one who has a 5 year old import so it can't be true. I see. That makes a lot of sense. If you know someone driving a 30 year old American car it's probably a show car. I don't see too many cars on the road from 1979. Sorry, you lose.

And despite all your drivel, what I'm saying is cold hard truth that you can't dispute with any basis of fact, only opinions. American cars suck compared to foreign cars.

And you have yet to tell us if you have an American tv, if the components in your computer were made in America, and if you checked all your utensils, dishes, clothes, and everything else in your house and only come up with it saying "Made in USA", because if it says anything else it's solid proof you are a tool.

By the way, go ahead and guess where the components on your American cars ECU and other computer parts are made.
