I heard they are making the Highlander in Indiana, does anyone know if this is true and if so, when they will be made available? Would love to have an American made Highlander.

The answer is yes and no. I had heard that there were plans to move production of the Highlander from Japan to the US in Mississippi but then Toyota decided on Indiana instead and that was supposed to take effect a few months ago. Always check the vin#- if it starts with a "J" you have Japan built vehicle.

Honestly, one of the best things about the HIghlander is that it was built in Japan. Seems to be better quality control from Japan-built Toyotas but that may just be a matter of opinion. Land Cruiser, Highlander, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser and I some RAV4's are built in Japan- all seem to be excellent in terms of reliability.
