something causing static

I have a 2007 hybrid Highlander, with 75K miles. Recently, there is loud static on the AM radio when the car is in gear, drive or reverse, and when I lightly engage the brakes. The radio is fine if the car is in park or neutral. Has anyone else had this problem. So far, the dealer has told me it will be too hard to sort out, though the car is under a Toyota extended warranty.

I also have a 2007 hybrid Highlander. Mine has 88K miles now and it recently started doing that very same thing. Did you ever get yours resolved and if so what resolved it?

Same problem. I've assumed it had something to do with the hybrid electrical system, but have never had it checked out. If I'm listening to the radio at a long red light, I have to put the car in park to get rid of the static.
