Parking brake light coming on when parking brake isn't being used

I drive a 2000 toyota corolla and about a month ago I've noticed the parking brake light coming on (on the dashboard) even when my parking brake isn't being used. It comes on and off at random intervals. It's kind of annoying and I'm just wondering if it's something I should be worried about or if I could simply ignore it (since I'm not crazy about taking it to the dealer and spending money unless I absolutely have to). No warning lights have come on to indicate there's anything wrong with the parking brake. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure about your car, but in some cars the parking brake AND the regular braking system share a "Brake" light on the dash. So, if you don't have the park brake on it could mean something more serious with the brake system,(such as low fluid level).
You might want to have it looked at, but why go to a dealer with a 10 year old car? Ask around and try a local shop.

I have a 94' corolla le I just bought. The high mount stop light comes on when the headlights are turned on. I thought this light lit up only when the brakes were pressed. Is it supposed the stay on all the time? It does not light up when the headlights are off. It does work like it is supposed to when the headlight are off, and the brakes are pressed.

No, it's not supposed to be on all the time. How about your regular brake lights? They and the hi mount are supposed to work together. If only the hi mount is on all the time, sounds like a short in the harness somewhere. If all three are on all the time, maybe a bad brake pedal switch?

i disconnected the brake pedal switch, and , with the headlights on, all three are still on. I took off the switch and worked it in and out both ways,(lights on/off) appears to be working fine, this is only happening when the headlights are on.

Thanks for responding.

My 2012 Toyota Corolla ABS, Slip Indicator Light and Brake dash lights all came on at once and have stayed on. I have checked all fuses. I have checked brake fluid level. I have disconnected negative terminal on battery for a minute and reattached. No change.

Those lights are indicating that there is a fault in the braking system, perhaps a bad sensor. With todays cars, you really have to have someone scan the system for any fault codes to find out what's wrong.

I drive a 96 Toyota Corolla and my emergency brake light is lit on my dash board but my emergency brake is not engaged, could it be dust on the sensor or low fluids if the E-brake and brake system share a sensor?

Hello! I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla. The brake light on the dashboard keeps turning on and off and there is a weird sound when i'm driving like something is rubbing against the tire! My dad thinks it is the axle but not too long ago my friend replace my fender and there is a plastic flap by the front right tire that looks like it may be causing that sound but I am not sure? Can you guys give me some feedback please! Thank you!

Im just taking a guess but would the sensor for the daytime running lights being faulty cause that problem with the third brake light?? Maybe??
