Hell, I don’t know if they have any more cars “to” recall. This is ridiculous. They’re going to have to start recalling cars that are still in production.

Hang on “Stop it”

I’ll get this one for you.

(Clearing my throat)

But, wait! No ECM boards have cracked in the lab! We need congress to investigate this before jumping to conclusions! The ECM boards are cracking due to DRIVER ERROR! The media is blowing this WAY out of context! This is more pandering on behalf of unruly politicians trying to get reelected. The US sucks and China rules!

Rolls eyes!

As devil's advocate, since Toyota has no problem acknowledging that certain controllers will make certain cars not run, why can't they acknowledge that certain controllers can't operate a throttle correctly?

The ECM's in question were manufactured by Delphi. In their defense (if we can defend them) they manufacture parts according to the specifications provided to them.
This is similar to the defective sticking accelerators which came from a supplier in Indiana.

I love it, every time something goes wrong with a Toyota it’s always somebody else. It’s the government, the driver, the CTS company, the dealer tech, the media, etc. This is Toyota’s problem, 100% no exceptions.

Toyota cut costs (remember the “we cut costs” story and we’re making money story!”)?

Well there you have it. Toyota won’t use the modern EEPROM ECU’s found in D3 vehicles because it’s too expensive. Toyota = cheap and subpar parts. Stick the fork in.

Toyota puked up another jack. They have to pay GM for the recal of the Vibe.

"Toyota Motor Co. announced a safety recall Thursday for 199,163 Pontiac Vibe models from 2005-2008 because a faulty powertrain control. As part of the same action, Toyota is recalling 1.13 million Toyota Corolla and Matrix models from the same model years.

The 2-wheel-drive Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix are sister vehicles built between April 2004 and January 2008 at the former New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. joint venture between GM and Toyota. The vehicles were designed and engineered by Toyota.

On some of these vehicles, the PCM may have been improperly manufactured and include components that can fail prematurely. In most cases, the engine warning lamp could be illuminated, harsh transmission shifting could result, the engine may stall or the engine may not start. In limited instances, the engine could stall while the vehicle is being driven.

Vibe customers will receive preliminary recall letters in September and a follow-up letter when replacement ECMs are available for their vehicles. Since GM has wound down the Pontiac brand, owners will be instructed to take their vehicles to other GM dealerships for service, which will be performed free of charge."

Yes, Delphi is footing the bill for this. They did not manufacture them to specification. Oops.

JJFAGS, a broke down, rusted out Toyota is 100% better than a Brand new little 3 product.....You know the Toyota will run forever....the LITTLE 3 POSTs will be lucky to make it off the lot!

Toyota is all quality, style, reliability, and Power.

The little 3 use lies, misinformation, exaggerated specs, substandard parts, their interiors look like a meth addict designed them.....look good huh, meth man? Cheap, cheap, cheap!!!!

Its sad, someone will pay way to much money based on specs and mewspapers..........the little 3 depend on the misinformed consumer to pay top dollar for autos that are truly botched beyond botched!

The little 3 past will haunt them forever......how do we know you ask? TOYOTA IS #1, thats how!

How is that working out for ya?

I think the 1.1 million recall for Toyota is quite a bit low since this was first posted. Largest recall in automotive history. Another first for the auotmotive history books. I get a chuckle everytime someone spouts off about Toyotas quality.

At least Toyota does not hide anything!

The little 3 hides defects, use misinformation, lies, exaggerated claims, cheap products,....never going to be #1, leave it to the professionals...Toyota!

We went out today and bought a Corollas ...best money we ever spent...paid cash!

Toyota will handle this in a professional way...they, unlike the little 3 , value their customers.

Toyota hid defects for years. This is why they are in trouble.

Defects were not real, so the recalls were unnecessary. They were wrong allegations, wrong guesses. Now all proven wrong. You cant hide anything that doesnt exist.

You must have been smoking too much of the reefer... Toyota has been the highest selling automaker for how long... about 3 years...before '08 GM had been the world's highest selling automaker for 76 consecutive years.

Toyota got to where it is by imitating the designs and technologies of superior American and German automobiles. Japan's car industry and economy in general is sheltered by high trade barriers while companies such as Toyota get around this typical disadvantage by having researchers show up every yeah at foreign automotive shows and take down everything they can and integrate it into their cars in order to give them that edge.

That NUMMI facility in Cali was a mistake on GM's part (despite the fact that they were provided with a substantial insight into Toyota's production methods)as Toyota was able to establish and develop the best ways to expand into the auto market of the USA.
Its a shame that it took until recently for GM to make the practical decision to pull out - Toyota had had plenty of time to exploit the business deal and it wasn't until GM was always losing its feet that they woke up to it.
Sure this wasn't the only issue with GM; there was in fact multiple reasons.

There is no point in denying the recalls and the issues that Toyota is faced with in its products, despite the fact there is some who decline on acknowledging it.

Saying that Toyota values their customers and GM doesn't is idiotic and basically contradictory. In comparison to Toyota, GM actually values its customers a lot more.
Instead of selling out one of America's great industries to a foreign one you should support it by buying products from an American brand. Toyota is a foreign company, there's no reason to dispute that.
