You can replace aged models with more boring cars, but until Toyota starts putting out more attractive metal they'll continue to turn into what GM was in the late 80s and 90s.

Problem is, Toyota was successful with boring so it might be really hard to get any amount of excitement into that lineup.

If Toyota wants to reverse the market share decline they must have more stylish cars. They will retain a certain percentage of repeat buyers who are loyal to the brand, but will lose many younger buyers and those who are not die hard fans.
The new Prius models will help but hybrids are a small part of their overall sales in the US.
My guess is that, within 2-3 years, these cars will have a completely new look.

Agreed - but I don't know about 2-3 years.

If they would stop and think about what goes on in American culture they might be able to come up with fresh designs. GM did it with the Camaro.

I'm sure they could build a Camaro if they wanted to. Being that they build the best selling mid-size sedan (Camry) in the US, I would assume they're doing just what they want to do.
