Hi all, I have 1992 Camry with 75K miles on it. I am fortunate that I haven't had any kind of problem with my camry. However, this morning when I tried to start my car, it never started. One of local car guy looked into it and told everything sounds good with battary and all, finally, can't figured out what could the problem.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a 1994 and we're having the same problem. We can't figure out what it is. It'll not start and then it'll start. Battery is fine. Starter or starter relay maybe?

Have similar situation with my '92 Toyota Camry. I had starter (original)replaced and the same thing happened again. The battery is good and so is the alternator. Tonight it took 5-10 minutes to start. Panel alert lights go out when this occurs. Upon turning the key and the panel alert lights go on then the car can be started. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have an 89 Camry which acts the same as you all described. It starts most of the time with no problems. Once in a while it refused to start. I would jiggle the keys, I hear a click in the engine compartment and then it starts. I ma breakdown and go the the dealer. The frozen gas line does not seem to be my problem; I live in central Florida. Keep posting. Some one has the answer.

We have a 94 Camry. I have the same problem with all of you. It started when it first snowed in Virginia which was on Feb 3. I don't know if its the Fuel pump or gas line. When my Dad started the car it made a clicking sound, and if this happens it is the problem with the Starter Solenoid contacts (clips) as said in my repair manual. If it does click it means the contacts are dirty, so try cleaning them. I bought a new starter and a new starter relay, which I'm going to replace with the old ones with the help of my dad. We did take out the old starter relay and it doesn't make a clicking sound anymore so I guess we did something wrong. We followed steps to disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and then taking out the relay, but now it doesn't make any noise at all.

I had also installed some new xenon lights before on the car, but don't know if thats the problem. I have read that Xenon lights could burn the wires if it takes too much power.

I have 2 camrys and 1 corolla with same problem. all 3 cars are 1990. Temporary fix is to put 40amp relay between battery and starter solenoid and use the original circuit to drive the relay. I have replaced battery, ignition switch and checked the starter relay, neutral switch and clutch switch. I think it is problem in the fusible link where corrosion exists. starter relay is delay item at $75.

I have a 92 Camry with 240,000 miles on it. I have had no problems with it till Sun. I was driving it and it died while going about 45 mph. It had 1/2 tank of gas. It wouldnt start back up it acted like it does when out of gas. We have changed fuel filter, distributer cap, and gotten all oils changed it still wont start. It is like it cant get fire to the engine. Help!!!!

Hey, guys my car has been fixed, I was right it was the starter solenoid.

On a 92 Camry the starter relay is located in the relay box by the battery. It is most likely the purple one.

Brandee I had the same problem, it is the engine. My dad forgot to put in oil so it heated up and almost died. Then it was towed and the mechanic put oil and a new battery, he had also said something about the engine is not good and its going to die out. Then we started driving the engine was idling (shaking). When we went up a hill we had to go faster but right when we went 50 mph it died. Looks like you need a new engine :(.

Sandy I have the same car. You need to get a better starter and a new battery. If its pulling juice from the alternator then it is definately the battery and starter.

I'm glad we got our car fixed cuz I'm takin it next year because I put new rims, new Xenon lights, new engine and adding more things.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL!

Oh yeah, if any of you want a starter solenoid I have one and will sell it for $50 or the highest bidder on eBay. Please post if you are interested!!!! A new starter honestly costs from $140-$250 from a store.

Sandro, try cleaning the contacts of the starter solenoid. Check your Spark Plugs. But it might be your fuel pump.

I had similar problem even had starter replaced. It now turns out that the culprit was the "neutral safety switch". It was worn and couldn't be adjusted anymore. The car starts when the shift handle is slightly moved. I am awaiting the part which costs about $185.00 in the NY area.

We just bought a used 92 camry and it was having some problems starting for the last week and on sunday it just wouldn't catch and start. It rrrrrrrrrrrrred forever and just wouldn't turn over and start. It has gas in it and we just replaced the battery. I wonder if it could be one of the thing y'all mentioned above- fuel filter or starter solenoid...
Also, occasionally when we're driving on the highway it seems to loose acceleration for a split second and we just take our foot off the gas and it seems to be okay after that but any ideas on either problem????
Thanks.

sorry, it was the 'lights' and battery dash lights that come on.
