The 2007 Camry six-speed CVT transmission on the V-6 camry was a CVT transmission. This has caused a lot of problem.

I just got a flyer from Toyota about the 2008 Camry and they said it is a six speed with sequential shift. It sounds like they have dropped the CVT and its problems.

What do you think?

Any one out there still having problems with the 2007 2008 camry 4cly or 6cly hesitation/downshifting?? if so please google 07 camry transmission problem, go to page 6, sign the petition to make nasha look into recalling this dangerous car b 4 someone gets hurt or killed.
Toyota makes a mistake and who pays ? the consumer, lets work together and make toyota pay for this mistake.
Lost lots of money trading camry in because of this dangerous unfixable problem? toyota should pay for that too.

Hello Eric, I have the 2007 v-6 SE I have had the valve body replaced then the Trans. The flare problem still existed.
They then had my car in for service and said couldn't find the problem. However when I got the car back the flare was gone and has been gone for 6 months now. I have strong reason to believe they went ahead and reprogramed the ECU with the latest TSB and didn't want to tell me so they don't have to count it as a fix attempt and they protect themselves
from possible lemon law buy back.
I happy the flare is gone but the trans does not shift smoothly and has a downshift problem in 1st and 2nd gear.
My Gas mileage has also dropped and I get no where near the MPG I should be getting.

To say the least this experience with this car has been my worst ever!

Keep in touch, Chuck

I've had my 2008 Camry XLE V6, 6-speed auto since October, 2007. It currently has ~9400 miles and other than multiple interior rattles, it's been trouble free. Last month I started noticing an odd transmission issue. The issue is felt at speeds 40 miles or less during street driving or slow freeway traffic. It happens intermittently and is difficult to duplicate on demand.

The issue occurs like this - I'm driving and the transmission seems to become "loose" (sorta like an exaggerated pause in stepping on and releasing the clutch on a manual transmission) and the engine increases RPMs about 1000 to 2000 and then "reconnects" and drives normally.

Initially, I thought they were sloppy up shifts but it doesn't always involves gear shifts.

When I described the issue to the dealer, the service writer told me it was because the transmission is "electric" and shifts differently than other trannies.

I didn't mention the word "flare" because I wasn't sure if this is the symptoms associated with flares.

After doing some Googling, I'm pretty sure I am affected.

I have an 08 Camry and am experiencing the same transmission problems some 07 models have had. I, too, have made my complaint known, and nothing yet has been done. I was told I could have my name "put on a list" and if/when Toyota figures out what to do about it, I'd be called!
I am very unhappy about this, and while I have owned three other Toyota cars which were dream cars, this one will probably be my last. I cannot believe that knowing there were issues with 07 trans. they went ahead and manufactured 08 models with the same problems! Horrible! Please give advice if you know what I should do.

I also have a 2008 Camry V6, 6 speed and have driven it approximately 3500 miles. I'm experiencing exactly the same problems with the transmission. I'm taking it into the dealer but judging by your comments I'm not optimistic about getting a resolution to the problem. This is not at all what I expected from Toyota!

What I have read about the transmission problems I feel like you are talking about my car. I have a V6 2008 that has been giving problems with the transmission. We have had it checked twice so far and each time they can't find anything wrong and of course when they drive it the problem doesn't show up. What do you do!!!!
I have an appointment again tomorrow to have it checked.

The reason we are have problems with the carmys now is because the engine the transmission and body is an american now only 12% japan 70% percent american so we are paying again for american made junk! The Funny thing Lexus of Toyota are only made in japan 100% so they are now the better cars! And the other funny part the toyota corola is japn built only but not avalon or carmy. The next time you get a chance go to toyota and lexus and look at the rear right back window the stickers are there to see who made the cars.I feel sorry for so many people because they just dont know! even with the Acura tl,s are 80% american and only japan transmission only but the acura tsx is made only in japan which i heard a lot of people haveing a lot of problems with the tl and says the tsx is way better. so becareful guys we are been screwed and for now on find out who built your car and who parts are in it before you buy make sure if you want japan built car that they from threr as well.

Toyota will probably offer you a rear spoiler if you do not already have one when they tell you that there is no fix for your toyota and now the dangerous hesitation problem that has two tsb's for this problem is now normal???

My 08 V6 Camry has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now having it's transmission replaced.

I have talked with Toyota corporate, and the sales manager at the dealership, and they have yet to offer any other solutions.

Crazy thing though, is that the transmission slippage must be happening to a lot more Camry's, because the sales manager even said his transmission slips in the mornings.

At this point, I would much rather just have another car, other than these defective Camry's.

They finally finished replacing my transmission.

I made them vacuum and wash my car to get that greasy smell out, and fill up the gas tank, after all the test driving they did.

Fortunately, I was also able to get Toyota corporate to extend my warranty as well to 6 years or 75K miles. Not real great anyway considering Hundai though right? But at least they are trying to be nice. But, I certainly had to ask for everything I received.

If the transmission starts slipping again I will just want my money back so that I can just buy a car with a different transmission. And I certainly don't want to be limited to Toyota.

I want to scream. I have an 07' Camry and it is going in the shop on Friday for the transmission. I have called Toyota and they tell me that there is not an issue. I am tired of driving out in the morning and having my car SLAM into gear. If someone is in the car with me, they think I did it with the gas. Nope, just the gosh darn car. Wish me luck on Friday!

Good luck, hope they can make it better. By the looks of things this transmission problem becomes normal when the TWO tsb's fail to fix this dangerous problem.
Again good luck to you. and hope the best for you.
I owned one of these dangerous 07 camrys for 10 days, long enough. I only lost 7000.00 trading it back in at DOWN EAST TOYOTA in brewer for my 05 buick I traded 10 days earlier. when I asked kevin kelly why I lost so much money because of a dangerous problem with no fix his answer was he did not hold a gun to my head to buy the camry or to trade it back in. nice!
They got me on that one but never again!! BUYER BEWARE OF DOWN EAST TOYOTA in brewer maine.
