I have a 2008 Toyota Yaris, Blue and it is starting to peel.

I contacted Toyota because I am suppose to be a Preferred Customer, but I guess that only applies when you are buying and not complaining, because they are not going to do anything to help.

I have purchased Three (3) brand new Toyota's in the past Ten (10) years, so they have definately lost a good custormer and I plan to write a letter to the CEO in Japan on honor and integrity.

The same for me. I am so disappointed with the paint of my Toyota Corolla 2011, that is less than an year old with so many spots of dirt trapped in the paint, bubbles, paint chipping and sctratching from the wind... For me this was my first and last Toyota. I will try to trade it in for Ford or Mazda as soon as possible. Ford also have paint issues but they admit it and are repainting even 10 year old cars. What about our Toyotas that are less than 1-3 years old? Now I realize why Europeans do not buy Toyota cars. Ford is second in sales in Europe. And Europeans are picky, after their home being their "castle" (which pertains not only to the British), comes the "out appearence" of their car.
I do not know how much a letter to the CEO in Japan will help but deserves a try. Or if we get the media attention on our problems?

2010 Camry has over silver dollar size paint bubble with rust on lower front passenger door. "Oh, so unusual" the manager says and sends photos for review. Voice mail message today that the manager determined it was caused by a chip ! I am not suprised to find these similiar posts. Wondered why my salesman did a 180* when he saw the problem on my car in the service bay.Message says I might want to call the National office on this one. Oakbrook Toyota-Bob Rohrman, you are doing me wrong !

I have a 2011 Tacoma that has several areas where the paint is dull as if the clearcoat diappeared. It only has 12,300 miles on it. Even several coats of wax havel not completely fixed the problem. The dealer (Independence Toyota in Hazelton PA) told me to they will check it out.

OH and National office says so sorry so sad; nothing they can do but give me a report number. There is no way this spot was caused by a rock chip, it is defective paint; $700 estimates to repaint the door. This is taking the same route as the accelerating problems, really caused by floor mats ?!! That was first cop out response.

I have a 2010 Tacoma with 24k. Just had regional Toyota rep look at my paint problem. The genius said it was due to "outside" influence, probably bird droppings. No kidding, that is why I brought the vehicle in. I have four other vehicles that are parked outside and the paint doesn't come off because of bird droppings. Well, he made my next vehicle purchase decision easier, that is the best thing to come out of this.

I have a 2010 Corolla. We noticed two very long 3 foot long cracks running from the bumper and halfway up the hood. The cracks are over structural members.

Nothing hit the car. I'm taking it to the dealership.

Any ideas how this happened?

Not without seeing it. I would suggest you stop by a local bodyshop on the way to the dealer and get his opinion first.

I just washed and waxed my mom's 99 camry and the hood has a huge spot in the middle that I thought was just oxidation but now I'm starting to think it's something else after reading the posts. Thanks for the info. And may I recommend a Kia for your next purchase? I have a 2006.5 Optima that still looks like it did the day I bought it new. It has almost 120k miles too. Shocking, I'm sure, but true.

Robin, check back with us when your KIA is 13 years old, like your moms Camry is now. Cars don't last forever.

I have a Pearl Blue 2003 Tundra. The paint job is great everywhere but the roof. All the surface coating have come off to the point where I have a few large spots close to the windshield where the sheet metal is exposed and beginning to rust.

If there's nothing wrong with the rest of the car, just get the bumpers repainted and you should be fine.

Paint is pealing off the hood of my 06 Tacoma. The local Toyota dealer pretends to not be aware of any paint issues and offered a minimal discount because I have a buddy in the service dept. I have never had a vehicle lose paint like this.

It's a good idea to get another estimate or two.

I agree. I think we should start a class Action suit. I should not have to have a car repainted that has less than 7,000 miles on it and gets driven to work and back everyday and that's it. Ridiculous!! My clear coat is peeling off all over and leaving a redish/yellow paint underneath. I am furious. This is my 3rd and LAST Toyota. They do not stand behind their product. Shame on them!!

What year is the Toyota. I have a 2000 Tundra with over 300,00 KM's that 180,000 miles with out any issues & very little rust. If the car is under 3 years it's covered under warrenty. I would never go back to the big 3 nothing but major issues.

I believe toyota switched to an inferior paint process around 2003. Maybe water based due to regulations. I have a 2011 Corrola S that has pelling paint on the rear bumper and especially the alloy wheels. Most people with issues occurred after model year 2003. I wonder if anyone working for Toyota has info about my suspicion. My other car is a 2011 Honda Accord with no issues. Other people with Honda vehicles of various ages have no issues.

If Toyota had to switch paints due to regulations, wouldn't everybody else had to?

Some companies have better luck with water based paints, while others don't. I would bet that depending on which country your car was made in, the regulations are different.
