Yes, I have several contacts in Florida. If they do not want to give us a reasonable price, I can always transport a car from another dealer in the region that wants to earn your business. Such transportation would cost only a few hundred dollars. Please check your e-mail. I am glad to help my summer vacation state friends in sunny Florida, AutoCounselorBoston

I primarily have contacts in Northern NJ area due to the fact I am originally from the NY metro area. I will get it done even if it means having to transport a car directly to your door for a few hundred bucks extra. The cost savings may justify it. My price will be at least invoice, if not below. Please check your e-mail. Have a Great Weekend, AutoCounselorBoston

Thanks.I'll be watching my e-mail. I found it interesting that you might be able to deal a limited at/near the xls price. Something to think about!

I just took delivery of a 2008 Avalon LX. Upon delivery the car looked and drove great. However, the tire pressure monitoring system, which was included on the window sticker, was not actually installed at the factory.... they just missed it! Will now notify dealer ( his 1st 2008 Avalon!) and work out something to compensate. In fact, the dealer didn't even know how to instruct me about the car. Basically just handed me the key and instruction book and said "good luck." But the car drives great, handles exceptionally well and appears, after 72 hours, to be a real gem. I did buy the extended bumper-to-bumper warranty 6 years/70,000 miles; There's a mess of electronic stuff on this car and if anything were to fail it would be very costly to fix!

AutoConsulor Boston,
I wanted to get your thoughts on the following.
The best quote I have been able to get for a 2008
XLS with the option I want is $29942. I still think this is about $900.00 high. The Limited, even only approximately $2000 more, I think would be out of my price range.

Please feel free
to contact me personally at oliddan@msn.com. If you have contacts in the Los Angeles area maybe we can discuss using your expertise.

Hi Hans, I confirmed that the power tilt and telescopic steering column will not be added to the 2009 Toyota Avalon. Furthermore, according to my sources they are indicating there will be no further substantial changes to the Avalon until 2010. You must understand that Toyota as a manufacturer needs to keep some product differentiation amongst their product lines otherwise they would totally kill Lexus sales and upset franchisees. All manufacturers do it, for example a Honda Pilot and Acura MDX until this year were the same SUV however some of the features were not available on the Honda. The same can be said with Nissan and Infiniti. Yes, the ES350 has some further enhancements over the Avalon and a 4yr/50k warranty however there isn’t much when you really drill it down for the extra price tag. Of course, there are intangibles such as the alleged “Prestige” and “Award Winning Customer Service” of Lexus. Since you are so adamant about this feature and it is a deal breaker for you, you should just “bite the bullet” and purchase a glorified Avalon (aka Lexus ES350). It has a Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column standard. Here in the Northeast, there is no incentive money on ES350s however there are some good money factors if leasing one. If you need help, let me know. Regards, AutoCounselorBoston <quoted text>
When you told me and confirmed that the 2009 Toyota Avalon will not be adding power tilt and telescopic steering column according to your sources, it really made me very disappointed and displeased. I have heard that the next Toyota Avalon will be redesigned in 2011 instead of 2010. So 2 years before the next Toyota Avalon gets redesigned, I really do want this current design Toyota Avalon to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column in the 2009 model year rather than wait for the next Toyota Avalon to get redesigned in the 2011 model year to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column. If the Toyota Avalon is going to get few minor changes for the 2009 model year, I do want the 2009 Toyota Avalon to get a power tilt and telescopic steering column being standard on the top-of-the-line Limited model since the Limited model have a standard 2-way driver's memory systems and possibly an option on the XLS model and also made the Vehicle Stability Control which includes traction control being made standard on all 2009 Toyota Avalon models rather than any other minor changes. I really do want this current design Toyota Avalon to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column to be offered on the top-of-the-line Limited model for the 2009 model year really, really badly. So please don't make me wait very, very long like more than one year from now for the Toyota Avalon to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column, very, very please.

My wife and I are considering a 2008 Toyota Avalon. I see that there are multiple postings regarding paint problems. My local Toyota dealer offers a paint protection option. Has anyone heard about this and if so is it a worthwhile option?
In addition, have the paint issues been resolved with the 2008 Avalon?

Hi Jack, First off you may want to correct your profile, it reflects that you are out of “Columbus, OH” instead of your respective town on Long Island, NY. Yes -- those prices are very high however that is the average price I have been reported from my LI sources. Clearly, many of the LI dealers are price fixing so that no matter where you go in Suffolk or Nassau County you will get roughly the same price. Many dealers in your region are also left with several 2007 models (which did not have any incentives/rebates until recently) so they were trying to unload those remaining cars on customers by making the 2008 models very unattractive in an effort to get rid of those units first. As you aware, incentives/rebates are designed to boost sales on new models or to lower excess inventory of older models. The general manager’s of many dealerships are telling their sales associates that they will negotiate generously unless the consumer wants a remaining 2007 model to lower excess inventory of older models at their dealership. Plus they have the incentive/rebate program money which 99.9% of time is not passed onto the consumer because they are not utilizing a competent automotive consultant such as me. Once these 2007 cars are all sold, more competitive pricing will be had however you still have the price fixing issues I originally presented. I think the best possible deal at that time you will be able to get is about $1,000 to $1,500 over invoice deal. I can get you the car you want for less than $31,000 – this is a below invoice deal. I would suggest buying a car with VSC, I don’t want you hitting a guardrail on the LI Distressway (a.k.a. LIE) or Sunrise Highway in the inclement weather conditions. Read my earlier posts about the benefits of safety systems such as VSC. There are no hidden/latent mark-ups, advertising fees, training fees which will be added to the above-noted price such as with many other dealerships. You would simply pay for the car itself, taxes, title, registration, and document preparation fee -- nothing else!!! I regularly consult and deliver cars on/to the Wine Country area, the Hamptons area, Port Jefferson, Huntington, Rockville Centre, Great Neck, Garden City and many other towns/areas of the Island. I am glad to help my Long Islander friends! Please provide me with your e-mail address if you are interested. I look forward to the possibility of working for you and only you as your zealous advocate, AutoCounselorBoston

Before the 2009 Toyota Avalon arrives at the Toyota dealerships in July or August of 2008, I really do want to send this request to the Toyota factory plant in Georgetown, Kentucky to let them know that I really do want the new 2009 Toyota Avalon with this current design to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column on the top-of-the-line Limited model really, really badly rather than waiting for the next Toyota Avalon to get redesigned in the 2011 model year to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column. I'm planning to buy a 2009 Toyota Avalon Limited with this current design so I really do want that 2009 Toyota Avalon Limited to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column for the 2009 model year before I buy it. I really need to know from the Toyota factory plant in Georgetown, Kentucky soon if the 2009 Toyota Avalon is going to offer a power tilt and telescopic steering column. I really, really hope that the 2009 Toyota Avalon Limited does get the new power tilt and telescopic steering column.

Bought a '08 avalon XLS a month ago and love it.
Got the cassis pearl (like a maroon)color with Ivory inside (cream colored)- gorgeous.
Already have one tiny chip on the hood about 1 foot back from the front edge. This chip is about the width of a #2 Pencil lead. Had to order a paint pen for it because they didn't have '08 pens yet.
I hope this is not the start of more chips or paint problems.

We are canadians trying to purchase a 2008 avalon limited through a friend in NH and have just had our deal cancelled cause our money was wired from Canada. Dealer claims he is afraid they would lose the dealership. They also implied our friend was doing this for monetary purposes.
This model is unavailable in Canada and we also have a FL address as we are snowbirds. Can anyone offer us any suggestions about our dilemma...
