O.K. my buddy picked up his 2008 Busa this past weekend and we have had an opportunity to take two long rides together. After countless effort to drag race these bikes it became abundantly clear that it was next to impossible to cleanly launch these beasts. The power transferred to the ground from a standing start resulted to molten rubber. So we did 40 m.p.h. roll ons instead(several dozen).I can say for certain that the zx14 seems to inch away from the uber busa evrytime we tried it.We switched riders and came out with the same result time after time. The 14 had 212 miles and the busa had 178 ticks on it when we started all the nonsense. These bikes are stock for stock.

I'm not really set up for video.I have an old camcorder that would be WAY to bulky to set up.Perhaps I could have someone use my digital camera and shoot a short movie to explain my point. One thing I did was measure top speed with my Garmin GPS vs the speedo and there is a serious difference. The speedo read a tick over 200mph with the GPS reading an indicated 184mph.I knew there would be a slight margin od error but not nearly that much.

I actually own a '07 ZX-14, no Haybusa new or old has even tried me, the look at me like " oh crap, they do exist" and they do nothing but stay behind me and gawk, that or give thumbs up signs at me. the '08 14 is faster than mine so I doubt the new Hayabusa will beat it since its numbers are aimed at the 06-07 models, I say ride what you like, both are first rate rides, and fast as hell, I just like Kawasaki Better, Plus Suzukis are like bellybuttons.

After riding both bikes at length it seems that they are virtually the same bike in many respects.Similiar power, weight, ergos.I just cannot get used to that ugly rear fender on the busa. You would have to admit they are just flat out hideous.

It's Roll-on dude, and no way you smoked either one, both have more power than the 'busa, if you beat them it was probobly due to rider error, plus the 12R have horrible aerodynamics.

HORRIBLE? Easy there buddy. Being 280lbs 6'7" This handles like a dream at speeds over 150mph. I have the 04 silver 12r and bought the new 08 zx14SE I still think the 12 looks better. I would be happy to roll on vs a busa any-day more importantly the guy who says he blew them away. I love the ignorance in these threads. I forgot to mention I modded my bike with wings and a jet turbine and blew by every busa from 1000 ft doing mach 2. WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!

I had 2000 12r until last year and still miss it.Outside of the lousy clutch and basket it seemed faster to me in terms of "seat of the pants" power. It was also a much nicer looking bike than both the ZX and Busa of taday. Now we have bikes that supposedly make more power but are choked to death by emissions, restrictions and govt. politics.I mean it sucks that you have to go out and buy at $12,000 bike that is corked from the factory and then invest several thousand more in order for it to reach it's potential. Why couldn't they at least left the 220mph speedo alone. If they are restricted to 186mph,fine, at least when you un-govern the ECU you would not have to change the speedo guage.Ten years ago all you needed was an aftermarket exhaust and a jet kit for a bike to realize it's street potential.Politics are killing motorcycles! It's a shame the new ZX10R at 170.58 RWHP has more smoke than both the ZX 14 or Busa.

I guess it depends on what you like to do on these monsters. Do you like to drive quick or fast? There are bikes that are much lighter which in return make them much quicker off the line. Hell my buddies RZ350,RZ500 will smoke any 4 cylinder out there guess thats why they are illegal in the US. However, once you are hitting speeds over 160mph I wouldn't trust anything but a Busa or a ZX12/14. Anything smaller and I feel like the bike will fall apart! I've been on the 954, R1, CBR1000, ZX10 and these bikes suck to me at high speeds. I do admit for my frame they are just too dam small! So all in all it depends on the rider and there ability to handle his or her machine. Too many inexperienced riders out there riding ticking time bombs. It is these inexperienced riders that are effin up the laws and regulations! Take it on the track! Keep it on the track! Wait until your state makes ridiculous laws for motorcycle riders it is only a matter of time. We can all thank the morons who think they are above the law and invincible until they become road rash!

Believe me I understand being a big guy myself, I'm 6'9" and 296lbs, I wanted a 12R originally, but the 14 fit me a bit better, although lower than the 12 it was a bit more roomy, I'm not dogging the 12 at all.

both bikes are great, 1300 and the 1400,but lets remember the busa still hold many records proven on the discovery channel on the worlds fastest machines, when i see the 1400 on there to be seen all around the world as the greatest two-wheel machine built, no-matter what you all ride, say, hear, or read, the 08 Busa is built 10 times better than that one, so be careful, you might see part 2,in- sept 08...maybe that will end all the fuss ;)
