Suzuki realibility is much better than the numbers may show. Here's why -
The "poor" reliability ratings has alot to do with the fact that Suzuki is selling Korean Daewoo cars with a Suzuki badge on it. The 3 korean models are the Forenza, the Reno, and the Verona. In the case of the Verona they have quit selling that car because it was having so many problems. All of the above mentioned cars were given to Suzuki to sell by GM when GM bought out Daewoo Motors of Korea.
So the main "work that suzuki needs to do" is not on the cars they make, but rather, phase out the korean cars and start selling more Suzuki made cars.
If you're going to buy a Suzuki, best bet is to buy a car that Suzuki actually makes themselves, such as the SX4, the Aerio, or the Grand Vitara. Those are all 100% Suzuki made.
The reliability on those cars are much higher than the korean rebadges.
Either way, that's why Suzuki is offering the 7 year, 100'000 mile powertrain warranty. Remember too that this warranty doesn't require that you pay a deductable every time you try to use it, unlike some of the korean brands.
Also remember Suzuki's warranty is fully transferable. So if you go to sell your Sukuki car after lets say... 3 years... the new owner also gets the remainer of the factory warranty, so in this case 4 more years! The other car companies void the warranty when the car is sold to someone else other than a family member.
If they really believed in their cars, wouldn't they back up their warranty no matter who owns it? Suzuki does!
No Deductable, Fully Transferable Warranty!
By the way... Suzuki just won "AUTO MANUFACTUROR OF THE YEAR" beating out Honda, Lexus, Toyota, Audi, Fiat, etc. Here's the link if you want to read it yourself: http://www.autoindustry.co.uk/news/23-02-07_5
