I have a 2001 Suzuki Vitara with a 2.0 engine. While at an idle it will just shut off and then it won't start again for about 15 minutes. After running and then shutting it off, it will sometimes not start and after waiting 15 minutes or so it will start right up and run great. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter.
Yes, having the same problem..mechanic replaced the fuel pump and did a full tune up.$500.00 later, still having the same problem...would appreciate any help.

Yes very similar problems. Brand new Vitara started squeeking and was told by mechanic it is a new hard disck pad that was prescribed by the manufacturer and nothing can be done about it. Now after two major services and still no joy I am going to take action. Will contact Suzuki headoffice and demand the problem be fixed or they can take their car back.
Cheers,
Jan
I refused to sit and wait for the Suzuki people to get their act together so I took mine apart (I am a certified mechanic)and discovered that the design of the retaining springs for the rear shoes are constructed of spring steel leafs as opposed to regular coil springs like most other vehicles. This was allowing for vibration in the rear shoes. I applied electrical tape to the rear of the spring where it contacted the shoe to stop the vibration and have not had a problem now in 20k miles... Hope this helps ya'll.. Tom
