Hummers represent everything that is wrong with our country.....I don't feel bad for a single person that is stuck with paying for gas in these huge guzzlers.

If they can afford to buy a hummer,
losing money shouldn't be a problem.
Most SUV's are leased, when the lease
is up they can downsize.

I love it when you see a HUGE Hummer driving recklessly down the street, and
when the driver gets out of the car, it's some 4'10" BIMBO! What does she need with a car that's bigger than a Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle in Iraq? Bittch needs a flippin' ladder just to climb into the flippin' thing!

You know what they say about big trucks... little pee pees. All Hummer owners have uncontrollable egos and need attention any way they can get it. Why else would you buy a behemoth vehicle that has absolutely no practicality. Test prove that the Jeep out performs the Hummer is al test: See link: http://www.7slotgrille.com/hummer/

The SUV era should be known as the "ago of illusion" when suburban Walter Mitty's felt the need to buy large hulking gas guzzlers to drive to work or the shopping mall!
The profits for the industry are the equivalent of crack cocaine that they can't live without.
Just read "High and Mighty" by Keith Bradshear about the history of the SUV.
$4/ gallon gas will also mean the end of the person who buys a large pick-up to show off.

They should ban pickups and suv's from the parkways, I'm sure that would discourage people from driving them. It was a sad day when they allowed pickups on the parkway, as if we needed more traffic.

Although I think a Hummer is stupid as well as the Escalade pick-up truck. I drive a 2000 blazer and I used it many a times for family outings (5) and trips to Home Depot for cement, wood and what not. I've been parked next to one of those dodge pick-ups-you thought my blazer was cooper. Not all SUV are extravagant-just think of them as a station wagon on higher ground.

About time GM did something smart. Too much is just too much for the consumer to pay to feed those things. This could also be a last-ditch effort for GM to regain some market place clout or slowly wither away.

You are so right, there are a few of the 7 deadly sins wrapped up in each person who drives one. How personally and globally irresponsible is it to own one now?

The good news is that scrap yards are giving $11 per 100 lbs for junk cars, so its not a total loss.
