Car just received, had only Valet key. Bought new Master key from factory.
Battery is dead and Need to access trunk to replace it.
Is there any relationship between a disabled alarm system and the key (master) being unable to actuate the locking latch.
Can access to the trunk be gained through behind the rear seats?
Obliged but desperate.

The Silver Dawn is what we call a 'derivative'- along with most Rolls' of the 80's & 90's - of the Silver Shadows 1 & 2. As such there is no way through to the boot via the back seat squab. There is a structural metal firewall behind the squab. There is a large rubber bung in the floor through which you just might be able to gain access to the interior of the boot and therefore the locking catch. Personally I would forget that approach due to the awkwardness of it and just trickle feed 12 volts into the battery via one or more of the cig lighter sockets. It shouldn't be many hours before you can use the remote electrical button to pop the lid. I don't remember if the ignition has to be switched on for the feed to work; and don't forget that the lighters are fused, so keep the current down to a couple of amps.
