Hi, does anyone know how the boot lid closing mechanism works on a 98 Silver Seraph - is it operated by either:

1/ Torsion Bars.
2/ Gas Struts.
3/ Springs.
4/ Other Means ?

When the boot release button is pushed is the boot lid meant to raise up slightly past the lock under mechanical force? mine raises just enough to pass the lock and I have to raise fully manualy.
All assistance greatly appreciated.

When you push the button to open the lid the lid will only open just past the lock. The boot lid has 4 gas struts to nold it in the fully open position, these get tired as the years go by and if your lid will not stay up they will need replacing.

Hi Andy, thanks for your response. I do not see any gas struts at all - are they concealed under the carpet boot lining?
