Unless you can actually see that the water is coming from the gasket between the body of the pump and the block I think you'll find that only a new pump will fix the problem. Don't leave it too long as if the bearings are on the way out such that they leak coolant the impeller may also be badly corroded and not pushing the coolant around the engine and radiator. If the bearing seizes then the engine could overheat badly and cause significant damage which could cost a bundle to put right. If previous owners have been lax in changing the coolant every 2 years or didn't use the full 50% mix the whole cooling system will need checking out.

Water pumps for the 30,000 series cars (Shadow II and Bentley T2) can be obtained from the usual suspects for £180 + shipping. A 'rebuild kit' of a new bearing and all relevant seals is cheaper at £120 + shipping, but will only be useful after you've got the old one off and confirmed that the impellor is still in good condition.

Your car, your wallet, your choice.

AND, for heaven's sake, flush that system to get the leak-stop out, have your radiator boiled and change the thermostat!! Shadows do not suffer shortcuts gladly, and that powder can get into the strangest places and, in the case of the thermostat, clog up the fail-safe, meltout plugs.

Trust me, you do not want to see the after effects of an overheated engine.

My water pump is leaking and I need a water pump fast! Does anyone know where I can go to rent a pump? I am trying to clear some water from my land. I would like to get the water pumped out as soon as possible.

Be careful with a leaking water pump on the silver shadows as they are not like American cars when they start to leak.. At some point the coolant will pour out fast and if you are on the highway you will kiss your motor goodbye.

Wrong topic, old chum. This area is for questions about Rolls Royce or Bentley cars.

Ive just limped home from France in a Silver Shadow 2 1980. started to get a little to hot for my liking. not loosing any coolant, but did notice different temperature in the Rad hoses. So the thermostat came out. Toped up with water and the way we went again. The heater was on full blow and the Bonnet pulled open to release hot air. we had 250 miles to go for the port Cherbough for the ferry. we were still in trouble the temperature was still high. so we were stopping to cool down every 10 to 15 miles. Know I was looking at the water pump, thers no pressure at the header tank. That said it all. So now driving over night to keep cool and the bonnet raised to five inches or so. we missed the Ferry but made it to Cherbough. 12 hrs for another ferry not to Portmouth but Poole. More Driving for this Sick Roller. stopped on the A31 M27 A3 M25 M26 Wrotham hill and right outside Sole street railway pub. A well deserved drink and the last step to drive to Gravesend. Know Home and the silver shadow in the garage safe and sound. a trip I would not like to repeat. So now new pump and radiator I think. Safe Driving out ther. jeff.
