I have two problems .On taking out from winter in garage battery dead. trunk locked unable to use key as dog is broken off lock barrel. Have tried to use cig to ciglighter cable just to get enough into battery to move lock solenoid to get into trunk to change or charge battery.told I could try using the interior light to try to back charge battery. I think the battery is so flat that it wont now take a charge. Am going to try jump pack on positive terminal of alternator and ground to engine to see it I can get enough current to move trunk lock solenoid. any other suggestions

the cig-lighter to cig-lighter has always been my suggestion, but i would leave it connected for a while, as it is a very low amperage transfer and can take a long while, during which the battery will appear to be dead.

have found the answer. Put jump pack on terminal of alternator then ground jump pack. Energised all the locking system .unlock on drivers door. worked perfect.

have found the answer. energise locking system by connecting jump pack to alternator terminal then ground to engine then open doors with drivers doorswitch. Also opens the trunk lock. thanks to all who left info. by the way theres only one company to get anything to do with RR leather Leatherique in Aiken SC. Dont bother going to anyone else. There the best. Ive used their products for years. Perfect match everytime waterbased dye and it looks like new if you take your time. Superb products. Thanks again to everyone who suggested. Gordon Young

Had a similar situation with '95 Silver Dawn. Started car and the alarm went off. Opened glove box and turned off switch and ran errand. Afterwards, couldn't open passenger doors. Nothing but driver's door could be opened and master key wouldn't lock or unlock any other door or the trunk. Obviously the security system shut everything down, disabled car starting, and the usual fix of recycling driver's door lock with master kay failed to fix the problem. There appeared to be some kind of security system malfunction that also quickly drained the battery. Numerous calls to the Dallas repair facility failed to resolve the issue of getting into the trunk, and despite advice from them we ultimately used the same alternator method as above to get enough power to get the car out of park so it can be moved by wrecker to Dallas. Driveway is on an incline and wrecker couldn't get the bar low enough to get under the back bumper and the only suggestion was to drag it out while still in park and this didn't seem like a good idea. Also learned that in our situation, there's absolutely no brakes--either foot pedal or parking brake. Sounds like big-time failure of Rolls Royce. Monday morning the wrecker will return and the car moved to Dallas, after which it will be on the market for sale. Too bad--it was a great car otherwise.

Hello every body,

I had the same problem, main switch in trunk is switched off, someone had tried to break in to the car (bootlock) lock was demolished and I coulnd not get the key in anymore. I will try to get a 12 volt on the altenator as described above.
Thanks for this suggestion!

I doubt there's much in common with old Shadows, Spirits, etc. Why not google for a Jaguar forum/online club and ask the same question there?
