All sorts of problems!

Hi, can you help?

I've got a "slow doer-upper" and have had consistent problems with the brakes (not fun!)

I've restored the starter motor so that's a start. However the usual old problem with these systems causes the two brake lights to come on and stay on during startup. Sometimes one or both go off but almost invariably they come on again straighht away. I've come to the conclusion that I need to work on the accumulator valves. I've got myself some new gaskets and diaphragms and now just need to remove, clean up and put back together. However, on researching this process there seem to be lots of terrifying warnings concerning recharging the nitrogen etc. Do we have any friendly folks around with the capacity to pressurize nitrogen in Cumbria? nope!

If anyonce can give me the idiot guide on how to do the whole process I shall love you and kiss you and hug you, or, just be really grateful and say many thanks - whichever you prefer!

Regards from just outside of Carlisle, UK

Hopefully you will have your Rolls running by next year and we can meet up at the Carlisle Steam Fayre and Auto Rally 2011. If you follow my links to the RROCA and take on board their advice then it's very likely.
I'll be with the Estima Owner's Club and my Estima is the green one with a Godzilla mascot on the front!
Yes, I do own and run a Rolls Royce. She's a 1976 Silver Shadow Series 1, but I only use her for local 'day-to-day' motoring or the occasional wedding hire, with the Estima as a tow-car for my caravan.

If you are there I'm sure we'll meet up regardless of whether the car is on teh road or not as my choir are usually there(yes I'm a singist and pianist/organist for a living... lucky or what?!?!?) although we did miss this year sadly. I'll look out for your Estima on the big day and expect to put my bum on the upholstery.

Currently I'm running a Rover 75 (52 plate) as my day-to-day car but the plan is to get the RR sorted and made trustworthy - which she's not just yet and then get rid of the Rover. We're hoping to move into Carlisle from Brampton which means I'll just be able to walk to work at the Uni. How marvellous, eh?

Regards,
Stuart
