My OFFICIAL Rolls Royce Silver Shadow workshop manual advises that radial tyres be fitted to all models of Shadow and Bentley equivalents as this was the first Rolls Royce where the suspension was meant for them. However Crewe were still willing to fit cross-ply tyres when a buyer specified them at the time of ordering the car. The standard fitment is 235/75 x 15".

The main difference between early and late Shadow 1's is that the very earlierst rims were meant for use with tube-type tyres as the wheel rim wouldn't give an adequate airtight seal with tubless tyres. Fortunately the very high ratio tyres are still compatib;le with the use of inner tubes if you can't get a good seal on the bead with later, but corroded, wheels.

At least these tyres would be good if you've got an earlier Silver Cloud or Bentley T.

My apologies. The Bentley equivalents of the Silver Cloud Series are the 'S' series with the 'T' series being the Silver Shadow variants. Just a slip of the finger.
