has anyone decided to finally just remove the fuse and use the doors manually. I also have the sliding door problems. Opening / closing.. now I think the doors are draining my battery. BAttery keeps losing voltage and the battery and alternator were both checked and are fine.

Well after years of having the ding ding ding ding ding ding issue with the sliding door and the problem of the door not working properly in any regard, I took the advice of unplugging the connectors from the side of the door motor....however instead of leaving it disconnected (which was my intention), I thought I would give it one more chance:

I filled the little pin holes with dielectric grease (found at any car part store like Autozone) and re-plugged them in.

DOOR NOW WORKS LIKE A CHARM......

Hope it stays that way for a while...if not, depending on how often I have to regrease, I may just disconnect anyway. I will report back in a month whether I have any problems.

OMG - thank you so much for this fix!.. The torchure for more than two years and this was an easy fix. Not sure why the dealer would not do this for me, but I am sooo relieved now! I cant thank you enough!!!

OK everybody. Here is a disable fix. If you are like me then your warranty is out and you don't have the extra money to take your van to the dealer to get the sliding doors fixed right. So I figured out how to disable the motors for the doors. It will stop all the dinging but will also make your sliding doors work only by hand. You will have to grab the handle on the door and open the door and close it manually.
On ether side of the van inside by the third seats section. The plastic trim just under the back side windows with a shallow cup holder in it. Pull up those trim pieces starting with the one at the front by the sliding door. Then take the one off by the back hatch door. Finally remover the longer piece that was between them. Look down in that conpartment and locate the electric door motor by following the black wire cable guide that comes from the back of the sliding door. Find the control modual that is attached to the side of the motor. There are two electrical plugs on that box. Disconnect them. Put all the covers back on and that is it. Do the other door the same and you are fixed up. I did that about a year ago and no problems. I do miss walking up to the van with a handfull of stuff and pushing the buttom on my remote to open the doors but I don't miss the never ending dinging noise or fighting the door to make it close. I hope this helps.

This door is impossible.....The sensor keeps going off....due to the fact that the door lock is no longer hitched so removing the sensors is discouraging to me as the door actually opened itself with my kids in the back while dinging and driving....occasionally going off of the tracks. I have since replaced the 800. Mechanism driver for that side of the vehicle......still beeping and disengaging once I go over a bump.........I am going crazy with this and would never get a Chevy again!

My 2006 Uplander has been dinging for almost a year. Spent over $500 and refused to spend another $400 charged by the same mechanic for redoing the same job....So today another mechanic wants to charge me about $400 for a detent switch and labor without trying any of the ideas from the any site like this one.... So I brought my van home and started messing with the fuses and the dinging stopped....I don't know why....dumb luck....I pulled several fuses out and checked them and put them all back...then i triedto pull out the fuse puller supplied by GM....wouldn't come out so I shook harder and the dinging stopped...Don't know why...just stopped.....???? Took it out on 2 test drives so far with no problem. Good luck, if anything changes I'll let you know.......1/20/2014

We also own a 2005 Chevy Uplander and the doors do the open and retract back to close by themselves. Sometimes the door won't close all the way and stop midway then retract. It has opened while we were driving and we have a 1 1/2 year old and a 3 year old that sit next to the doors. Also I have been crushed by the door that closed on me after I pressed the button to open it. I had to quickly grab my son and move him out of the way as I was getting him out of his car seat. I was pinched between the door and the door jam and had to wait a few seconds until it released me . Thank God my son wasn't hurt. Just the other day we spent over a half hour messing with doors so that we could actually get going. This happens about once a week and sometimes we will spend close to an hour trying to close the doors. The other problem is when the doors do close they won't open! We have to manually open the doors because the doors won't open when we press any of the buttons. This happens about 2 times a month and we have owned it since 2005 so imagine how many times this happened. This has been a serious safety issue for our children.
it won't stay closed it keeps openingup when it closes and I want to disconnect it so it can be opened mmanualy

Well maybe I should have looked at this before I bought mine! Have the same problem with the passenger side sliding door not wanting to stay close and now something is wrong with the guide cord! it sounds like it has been tangled up somewhere! My door is stuck part way open! I had to push hard to shut it and now the damn dinger won't stop!

You guys seem like your are on my car. I have a 2007 Chevy Uplander, this damn dinging noise keeps going off saying my doors are open when they are classy shut! Even when I put the car in park and then the car off the dinging noise still goes off which causes my battery to die. Sometimes at night my car alarm would go of for no reason, again, cause my battery to die, my rear windshield wiper dose not work, sometimes my a/c just blows out warm air instead of cold air! GM really needs to do a recall or we need to file a lawsuit cause this is ridiculous

Did anyone try to clean the contacts plate so the door controller can recognize that the door is closed? Use a paper glass or soumething to renew the contucts.
