Thank you

Disconnect the positive cable from the battery for about 5 minutes and then reconnect.... Tada CPU is reset and the check engine goes off....

I have a 2000 Pontiac grand am and the steering locked up today as my daughter was driving anyone have any ideas why it locked up on her? The service engine soon light is on along with the abs abd traction control light. I just replaced the passenger side half shaft the other day and the wires for the hub bearing broke on me.

to much for me to read but if there was no answer yet the crankshaft possitioning sensor is located behind your harmonic ballance attached at the end of your crankshaft. you have to remove the ballancer to change the sensor

I'm having problems with a 2000 Grand Am GT. Sometimes the blinkers work and then they stop working. I can crank up the car and it'll work fine, but after going down the road for a little bit, they stop working all together. I bought a round blinker relay, but I don't know where they install on these cars.. on most cars, it's below the dash, but I can't find where it goes on the Grand Am. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
It's behind the radio.

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am that recently started jerking when I get to 60 mph. It has 119,000 miles on it. I have changed the spark plugs because it just seemed to have a miss in the engine. It was fine for a couple of days and then started all over again. Any ideas?

Usually gonna be behind the harmonic balancer on the front of the crankshaft. on most engines that means pulling off the water pump & timming cover & balancer to get to it. can be done by a competent shade tree mechanic but wouldn't advise it for a novice

A haynes mannual will give you details on how to check at the ignition coil to see if its getting a signal and how to test the ignition modual to tell if its getting a signal from the crank sensor, all you need is a led test light I'd definately do this before starting to replace the crank sensor

I have a 95 grand am 3.1, and it starts fine and accelerates fine on flat ground. When i accelerate going up a hill it bogs down and sometimes the engine shakes violently for a few seconds, then a little puff of black smoke comes out of the exhaust. Fuel pressure test was fine and changed the O2 sensor. I'm stumped, but could it be the crank or cam sensor? Can anyone help?

I am having an over heating problem and I have changed thermostat(a couple of them just incase),H20 pump, hoses, radiator. Have any other ideas? The oil and H20 is not mixing so I don't think the head is cracked?
Try replacing the air filter and check to see if the electric fan comes on when starting the vehicle.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and I've always had problems with the headlights being too dim to see at night. I recently got new lenses and HID bulbs to try to fix the problem. They are bright now but there are lots of annoying shadows in the beam (looks as if the light is being blocked). Anyone ever had this problem or know what it could be? My dads thinking maybe something with the metal ring the light sits in. Thanks!
