I have a 96 sunfire with a 2.2L. It has 270K miles. One of the fuel injectors was leaking so I put a new injector in the 2nd cylender I put it all back together and when I tried to start it, there was gas flying out of the exaust linkage right at the engine. I removed all the spark pluge and the 1st cylender has the gas flying right out of the spark plug hole. none of the rest do this. and it is the one right beside where I replaced the injector. I put another injector on it then and t still spews the gas right out of the spark plug hole. Any ideas?

I live two hours north of you in Nashville. I found your post through google. My 96 sunfire 2.2 liter 161k engine has one injector leaking that I found today. I started looking when I was smelling raw gas with the heater on. I was going to attempt to replace it myself, but after reading your post, I think I'll leave it alone and drive with a fire extinguisher

I have a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire SE 4 cyclinder 2.2 liter with 176,000 miles on it. The fuel injector(s) needs to be replaced. Any suggestions? The car smelled like it was on fire and stalls.

Make sure you replace both the upper and lower o-rings on each injector. Do not adject the rail by bending in any way!!!
