Emergency brake does not fully engage the car (rolls back if on a slope) Cup holder broke. Am having some problem with the battery lite continually beeping when i come to a stop. The top flew open once while on highway! ANYONE ELSE??? :( |

power window connectors not snapped properly 2 days after i got car. small leak on passenger side. fixed with silicon 18 inch long strip on front of roof. shitty windshield replaced twice sence purchase in feb of 06. 1st. time it took 7 weeks to get a window. 2nd time 4 weeks. the joy of living in farm country. some shity welds on frame.in engine bay. fixed at work. ergonomics ie. power window buttons, cup holders behind shoulder WTF, seat belts hello, lack of center consol storage, sun visors folding to driver in stead of the road to small and no pull outs, rear view mirror should have been attached to window frame with power cord on the in side, driver side cup holder where is it, dead spot above rear storage. WHY ?.power seats would have been nice. and a removeable hard top for winter driving would be real nice. still i love the car and its fun as hell to drive. no plans to sell. and ill just modafy as i get the time and money. no duct tape fixes for this car. |

Wow...
My cup holder broke too...the front part flung off this week. The only other major thing...have had a rear differential replaced...8,600 miles on it..! Started with terrible grinding in any gear from 26 - 32mph...I tried to skip this speed zone...to no avail... |

We had our first rear differential replaced two months after purchase (1800 miles on it). Had some additional problems with it leaking, then had second rear differential put in two days ago. 1/2 mile from the dealership on our way home, heard a loud pop sound, then rear locked up, sent us fishtailing and skidded us around so we were facing wrong direction. Luckily we had taken a route not very busy so no one was hurt and no property damage. We were wondering if anyone else was having problems with rear ends.

My solstice GXP seems to be ok so far and I have about 2000 miles everything does what it is supposed to do.
Although when I first drove the car and tried to relatch the top it needed a adjustment which was done by the dealer and so far so good. Mine is a 2007 possibly the 2006's were still buggy and now they have a lot of problems fixed. coolou |

I have had a NA for one year, 10,000 miles, no problems.

My 06 Solstice had very bad transmission problems from day one. Stiff shifts, gear slap, "klunk" in the lower gears. The differential chewed it's self up a 4,000 mi. I complained about the transmission and was shown a "bullinen" from Pontiac declaring that some owners might have problems with the transmission, but that was the way they were desighn and they could do nothing about it. I had a warrenty, but it didn't cover the transmission problem. They covered their ass by issuing a bulliten, acknowledging the problem, but telling the buyer to live with it. The WORST customer service I have ever had. They did some very nice things on the Solstice, so why couldn't they make a standerd transmission. I thought they were perfected 50 years ago. They should have bought a Miata and copied their transmission. Needless to say, that was my last Pontiac. I sold it and bought a BMW. The can make a 6 speed transmission that is as smooth as silk.

Awsome car, my 07 GXP has a broken cup holder but it was my fault. Bumped it getting into the car when it had a drink in it. Rear diff leaked around 9000 miles but was fixed. I have 20k miles now. Fantastic car.
I think post #1 is trying to dis-credit the car. Flat tires happen to everyone and it is physically impossible for this top to open unintentionally, especially on the highway. You have to press a Key Fox to release the back (trunk, then there is a warning that beeps), trunk has to be opened and pull a lever. If you did this on the highway, you're an idiot. That would explain the flats and why you clutch blew. You don't know how to drive. BTW the 06 NA did have issues with the tranny and was fixed in the 07. The rear diff is the same on the Cadilac CTS, they are having the same issues. In late 07 there is a new beefed up rear diff being installed. Allot of the rear diff issues are related to the customers not getting explained or not reading their owners manual about break-in. First 500 miles is critical to proper wear and break-in of the engine and rear diff. Post #1 get a Miata. |

It sounds like post one has had every problem you can have with a solstice.
You either have a lemon or like a few miata owners sneaking onto Solstice forums to spread hate and discontent. You sound like the latter. You say your from Texas, Yeah right Osaka texas I bet. We have owned a 07 GXP for 4 months and have 4,500 miles on it with no problems. Very few problems noted on the forum for 07s. Now this is the truth, never in 35 years of car ownership which has included the likes of the Austin Healy 3000, Corvette, firebird and jaguar have we ever owned a car that turned heads like this one. Put this pocket rocket in the middle of a Lotus, Lamborgini and and pick another + 100 thousand dollar sports car and all eyes are on the Solstice. My last car 02 Miata. Cute but not even close!!!! |

The car is so beautiful and driving it so great that I forget all the problems of the day when Im behind its wheels. As beautiful as a victoria secret model but it has some bad days: my differential broke and they put a new one but it didnt last 30 min when it broke..... again... hard to belive!!!....so now its at the dealership.... Ive hearing many people have problems with their differential too...I think they should have done something by now with the 07 models... Im now feel paranoid... what will happen when my warranty ends and ill need to pay for a differential.... and more if they dont last more than a day....

Has anyone had a probelm with the front end dropping to the pavement after having to do an emergency stop?

I just purchased an 08 GXP. Had for a couple days and the breaks failed. Took it to the dealership and it had to be reprogrammed. Got home and the fan ran for 5 minutes after I turned off the car.
I love the thing and it is a dream car for me but I am concerned it will be one problem after another. |

No problems as of yet 2000 km 2007 solstice . Its A for sure the solstice does have A rear end recall on the pinion seal they are bad also there are leaks in the shocks and the cup holders are crap they are placed in the wrong spot . So having said that expect these problems its A going to happen its A fact Jack. Just bring it back to the dealer, and write the company its another fact that if you complain enough there will fix this problem @ no cost if u leave it go its out of your pocket.
|
||||
Never had that problem but did the front end actually drop or did the rubber stopper under the front end scrape which it does when you go over any elevated areas. |
||||
well congrads on your new solstice, but the bugs may be just beginning. I would start contacting the company and keeping A log of everything because when the warrenty is up and the years will go by quick the dealer will write you off, having A log of previous problems will save you one bunch of cash. |
||||
sounds like you are having your share of problems, Its not unuseual for some solstice owners to have more problems then others from what I have read and i have read alot. Like I mentioned before keep A personal log and contact the company NOW every time there is A problem, if you wait untill the warrenty is up you will still have those problems but your savings account will be 0.00000. |

I have owned 2 Solstices. First one a 2006 base car delivered in December of 2005, and a 2007 GXP, which I acquired in early September 2006. 8,500 miles on the base car when I sold it, upon obtaining my GXP, with ZERO problems of any kind. And I do mean ZERO problems.
I had a pinion seal leak on the GXP @ about 6.500 miles which the dealer took care of, and the pinion seal recall that was done recently. Done deal. No other issues with the GXP. Great car, just wish I could enjoy it 12 months a year. Northern Ohio Winters and Solstice GXPs are just NOT made for one another. But you've gotta love Spring, Summer, and Fall. |
